Except that I spent the day putting that stuff on the shelf rather than in my system. I was off yesterday but I worked today and will work tomorrow. I sell booze and that means I work every holiday because every holiday is a booze holiday. I defy anyone here to name a holiday on which I don't sell more booze than usual.

Father's Day - scotch
Mother's Day - champagne
Easter - wine
Cinco de Mayo - tequila
Valentine's Day - more champagne

etc.

Give people a day off and they will drink. Job security.

It's been my way of life for nearly 20 years now so I'm quite used to it. There are times I'd like to have time off to join in festivities with friends (New Years Eve for example) but otherwise I just deal with it. I work graveyard shift so most of the time unless some event is during the day (when I'm sleeping) or runs late into the night I can catch at least part of it. I don't celebrate religious holidays anyway so that leaves out those events. I do kind of miss getting a predictable paid break like so many do, however.
