Why do people care who loves whom?
After church today, I went out to lunch with a group of senior ladies I always have Sunday lunch with. We had had a guest organist, so they were asking where our regular organists were. Our two staff organists are a couple, have been together for years. I told them that they had gone to one of their hometowns for the long weekend. And no one batted an eye about these two women being together. It's just a fact of life, as are the other gl couples in our church. Just no big deal.

So, why do others get so bent out of shape about people who love each other? Seriously, I don't get it.
If my li'l ol' blue hairs can be so nonchalant about this, why can't everyone?!

Otoh, I' grateful to be part of a faith community that shrugs off something that gets others so heated.

But still...

1. They don't think of it as 'love'
They boil it down to arses and penii, and that grosses them out, so they hate.

Somehow, they've got it figured that people are gay because they want to have sex with people of the same gender. I'd like to ask them, "Are you 'straight' because you want to have sex with the opposite gender or do you want to have sex with the opposite gender because you're 'straight'?"

2. Well said
They seem to think about what people are doing in bed, rather than what they do with their parents on long weekends, or when grocery shopping, or when caring for a sick partner--all the things that make a relationship.

And boiling love down to sex seems sick to me.

Thanks for helping me ponder this.

3. I don't get it, either
I think it has something to do with control, but I'm not sure.

4. I wonder what their attitude would be if the
2 organists were male.

5. It is more pressing to determine whom to hate.
