2. I WOULD vote satellite if I had that option.
Seeing as it was omitted I have to vote dingbat.

25. In the country, miles from any cable company.
The highest speed I ever saw on dial-up was 24.4kbps. I went with wildblue satellite and I am getting 1.5mb down and 256k up. It is too expensive for what it is (80 bucks a month) but its my only option here. I am waiting for Internet over power lines which is supposed to deliver 10mbps up and down. (I have a feeling it will be a reality in my next life)

6. Fiber optic just went into my neighborhood, Peggy
I have cable now, but I bet I'd see the same results from fiber optic - thanks for the recommendation. Night! :hi:

I had a Diamond double modem, used two phone lines (I had one for fax) and got me around 90K. I thought I was hot shit until AT&T said you can't have simultaneous dial in service or else I'd have to pay for 2 accounts

15. I DREAM of another phone line. Hell, I dream of replacing this one.
It has to be at least 60 years old - and it quits working when it rains.

14. Wow. I didn't realize how quickly dialup was falling by the wayside.
DSL for me, by the way. I'm damn glad to have it way out here in the boonies, too.

Cheaper and much faster than cable, and since I've had it installed (a year ago) it has NEVER gone offline once.

Most people on the valley floor are still on dial up, but up here on the mountain I found myself within range of the sbc (or is it at&t now?) switching station. :bounce:

Not at the same time, of course; but, you've gone from one to the other and had a chance to compare.
