Poll question: Steely Dan: Yes or No?
You saw it coming, folks. Seriously, must I explain this?

2. I voted "I hate Steely Dan"
just to see what kind of reaction it would get from you. ;-)

3. Yeah, I can bet.
:P

I don't care an inch if people hate the 'Dan. What I DO care is if they start personally attacking me for being a huge 'Danfan. Yes, I am aware that Steely Dan isn't jazz or anything of that sort. Just because I like Steely Dan doesn't make me like Kenny G or anything like that, nor does it mean that I can't love Miles, Bird, Diz, Evans, etc. I personally find Fagen and Becker witty, amusing, and very crafty, musicians with high standards and high individuality. They are "pop" musicians who make fun of that very genre.

But if you think they're uninspiried, insipid assholes who are probably child molesters and who belong in purgatory for creating anything less than hard rock, that's your opinion. So whatever.

;)

5. That's admirable.
It takes a lot to get to the point where you don't care about people's tastes anymore. I try to not care, but I'm still mildly ticked off when people say they hate my favorite band, Pink Floyd. Especially if their hatred is only derived out of an intense dislike of the complexity of the Floyd's work, like Johnny Rotten, the first person to wear an "I Hate Pink Floyd" T-shirt.

6. Yeah.
There are people who seem to hate the 'Dan just because they're really a cerebral band. WTF?

8. Actually, I don't hate Steely Dan
but they've just never really been on my musical radar. So whatever.

There are some bands that I really like to hear on the radio, but I just never get into them any more, and I'm really okay with that.

9. Back when I was a student
the only thing that my friend could do to get my lazy ass up off his floor in the morning (ok, afternoon) was to put Steely Dan on.

I would be forced to get up in order to turn it off.

:P

12. Good God no! This stuff made my brain hurt!
Or was that the alcohol? No matter - do you really think I'd be so masochistic as to want to know the name of the album?

19. I like 'em
I voted for the second option, 'cause I tend to like certain material more than other. The debut through Pretzel Logic are my favorites, and I don't care for Aja, which is funny, 'cause it seems to be their most highly-praised album. Their sound, especially it seems, during their later years, sometimes got a bit too slick-sounding, but they seem to always have great lyrics and their music is usually quite interesting and cool-sounding as well.
