1. OKlahoma Sooners
I think I read that OU and tOSU will be resuming their rivalry with a home and home series. It won't happen for another ten years (2016 and 2017), but it should be great fun when it does :toast:

54. I certainly expected better from the defense
after hearing in the weeks since the bomar situation blew up that the defense would save this team, it was pretty disheartening to see UAB control the clock as well as they did. The D-line didn't control the line of scrimmage, the secondary gave up a couple of big passes, and it didn't seem like anybody was tackling very well. And the O-line did not look good.

But I thought Paul Thompson did a good job for his first game out after being a wide receiver for most of the last 11 months or so. I think (hope) they improve for next week's game against Washington before they have to head up to Oregon. I'm sure not expecting the national championship or anything, but I'm still holding out hope for a decent season :) :toast:

55. Thompson impressed me ...

Had a few off-the-mark passes and had trouble in the pocket, but considering he hasn't played the position in so long, and had so little time to prepare for it, that's to be expected. Only thing that worried me about him was he was a bit too predictable, but, again, that's likely partly a result of the lack of practice in the position. Can't say his line or receivers helped him much either. Some of those passes were catchable, just not "in the numbers." If a QB has to throw in the numbers all the time, he won't have a passing game to speak of and will be intercepted two dozen times during the season.

The defense made me want to cry. The announcers tried to talk up how UAB doesn't believe in "givaway" games, but that only works so far. North Texas doesn't believe in them either, and is actually a pretty tough team when not playing Division I powerhouses, but Texas cut through them like they were warm butter. UAB shouldn't have had more than one or two sustained drives, if that, and then only late in the game when OU was ahead by enough that the 2nd and 3rd string go in. I was even willing to look past the first drive as first game butterflies, but it kept happening.

About the offense ... well, a certain kind of coach would have his entire offense walking around campus all next week with balls taped to their hands.

Thompson was the best thing I saw, and that scares me.

But I'm still thinking I may be able to get those OU-TX tickets if Oregon doesn't go so well. :-) Man, I feel evil for thinking that.

They are going through a rebuilding period right now. They won't win many games this year but look at their glories of the past during the Don James era. They will be back. Give it a couple of years.

We made a lot of mistakes against USC last night, but I liked what I saw in the offense and defense.

If we can get the turnovers under control, we'll be a force to be reckoned with.

And did anyone else see true freshman Mitch Mustain come in during the 4th qtr? This kid is going to rock!
