4. Good morning, my dear haruka!
I like your pic!

But what is GIMP?

Is it like Photoshop?

6. It's just like photoshop, but free.
http://www.gimp.org/

It was originally a Unix program, but they have Mac OSX and Windows versions, too. Just like photoshop, you can also download plug-ins for it. It also seems to eat way less resources than Photoshop, even though it pretty much has the same capabilities.

7. Cool photo....and thanks for the heads-up on GIMP free download!
Went to the site. Seems they are about to release 2.4 v soon.

What version do you have?

8. I have 2.2.11 for Mac OSX
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 10:35 AM by haruka3_2000
There's also a ton of tutorial sites out there for it, like www.gimpguru.com

To run it on OSX, you also need to download a program called X11, but that's a free download from the apple site.

5. I just looked at a few screenshots of GIMP
I haven't heard of it 'til you mentioned it. Looks like they ripped off the interface from Photoshop, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

10. I love this, haruka!
I'm gonna ask Call Me Wesley to get GIMP for me, if he can. We have Photoshop CS2 but it's more program than I need a lot of the time.

This image is very artistic.

12. Thank you.
Here's the link to download it:

There's also some tutorials on the gimp site, but there's more at GIMPguru.

14. Thank you!
When I've had a chance to download it and play a bit, do you mind if I PM you for pointers? I really, really love what you did that with photo, but I'm afraid I'm too incompetent to do anything remotely similar with CS2. :(

19. Thanks. It's like a free, open-source Photoshop type program
www.gimp.org

They have it for Mac OSX, Unix and Windows machines.

20. Excellent work, and thanks for the info about GIMP.
I'd heard a bit about it. I had access to Photoshop for a while and got hooked on adding artistic effects; nice to know there is something promising for glorious FREE!
