Fried Green Tomatoes, but there is no sex.

It's in the Water was kind of cute too, they really capture how people start treating you different when you come out.

But the whole tone of the movie up to that point clued me in that that just could not be. Plus, it was nice to see a film not have a happy ending for once.

28. for Angelina or for Gia?
I think Jenny Shimizu was the hotter one. What film was it they were in together, when they met and had the affair? I like Angelina, but not particularly in that film (Gia)since so much of it was fictionalized. The knives thing was all Angelina. I LOVED Mercedes Ruehl in that though, but I love just about everything she does

55. When I saw "The Color Purple" in the theater,
that scene came on, where the two women are starting to get rather intimate (just hinted at, but it's obvious what they are about to do.) Just at that moment, some woman in the audience shouted out, "Child, don't DO IT!" and the whole audience cracked up laughing. It sounded very much like an older black woman's voice. That's the one thing I will never forget whenever that movie is mentioned.

I really liked this...it's nice and light and there are some hot scenes in it. One of the leads annoyed the crap out of me. Another one of the lead characters, the one who played the kind of athletic redneck, is nothing like that in real life and when I saw her in an interview I couldn't believe what a good job she did in that film, it's worth it just for her performance.

61. I've seen it three times. It's a very disturbing and complex film. Perhaps

Lynch's best so far. Allan Ruch wrote a very
good review of the film that is almost as
obsessive as the film itself. The review is
found here:

Don't read the review before seeing the film
at least a couple of times or it will spoil
it for you.

Allen B. Ruch
23 April 2002
Last modified: 6 February 2003

http://www.themodernword.com/mulholland_drive.html

Also in the movie Rebekah Del Rio sings a strikingly
evocative Spanish version of Roy Orbison's Crying
entitled Llorando that she composed herself and then
had retranslated into Venezuelan vernacular.

Lynch met her in a recording studio in LA and asked
her to sing a song. She recorded Llorando without
musical accompaniment in one take. Her performance
so impressed Lynch that he saved the recording which
was made before Blue Velvet and used it many years
later in Mulholland Drive.

Save the youtube Url but again don't play the video
until after you see the movie.

Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 11:04 PM by NeoConsSuck
"Soon after, the hit takes place, and the blue key is left behind on Diane's coffee table."

That wasn't how it happened. The key was left behind the diner, in the blue box, in a paper bag. That was why the guy in the beginning (in Diane's dream) was afraid to go to the back of the diner.

The evil monster behind the diner was a metaphor for the murder that occured.

78. DEBS is a very cute movie.
It's just a fun, somewhat cheesy movie about teenagers.

One of the things that I like about it is that the heroine and villian have a relationship -- and the big deal is that they're enemies. The fact that they're lesbians isn't a crisis, so the movie isn't about "Oh my god! They're lesbians!" It just happens, as if lesbians aren't freaks of nature.

Very cute movie.

71. She's straight.
She's been married from over 20 years (yeah, I know it doesn't mean much), but she has said in numerous interviews that she often is offered lesbian roles because she looks like a "strong woman." I just think she's comfortable enough with herself that she's fine with playing gay. She even made fun of being typecasted as a lesbian on an SNL skit once.

95. That's cool
I like it when straight people have no problem playing gay roles and even being typecast as gay. It just makes the homophobes look even dumber than they are.

69. Deborah Harry has also played in several lesbian roles
including a SNL skit, Sick, a short for Details magazine, and a couple others as well. I can dream about her thanks to that. :P

66. Not specifically a lesbian movie, but one of the characters...
...had lesbian undertones, which helped to set the drama. The movie was Night of the Iguana.

70. "The Unbearable Lightness of Being"
Not a lesbian movie, but there's a touch of Juliette Binoche and Lena Olin getting playful.

88. I second that....
Desert Hearts is a good movie that happens to have a lesbian element in it.

My short list (in no particular order) of lesbian films is:

Desert Hearts
Go Fish
Lianna (the John Sayles film...I remember he said that he was interested in doing a gay love story and choose to do it lesbian because he could relate to loving women)

81. Did someone suggest Foxfire?
Great flick. It has Angelina Jolie and Hedy Buress (of Boston Common) in it. Great coming of age, girl power movie.

It should not be confused with FireFox, a 1980s fighter-jet spy movie staring Clint Eastwood. Definitely not a lesbian film :).

I think that's the title. Based on a true story of a Military Officer who was hounded for being a Lesbian, staring Glen Close.
