Now that I have Firefox, can I delete Internet Explorer?

I can't stand the fucking thing but I do not know if it will fuck up my computer to remove IE.

Any ideas? :shrug:

1. I always deleted it off my computers, but I use Apples.

I use Safari and Firefox.

2. If you have Windows, I believe IE is part of the package.

You can delete it, but Bill Gates might send goons after you.

3. Don't delete it.

There are a few web sites that won't work with Firefox, so it's worth it to keep IE around.

Also, I use HTML files the way I used to use text files: all kinds of crap for quick and dirty notes to myself, recipes, etc. For that kind of thing IE is actually nice because it's very forgiving of coding errors.

4. Yeah, the main problem is. . .

that Windows Updates purposely won't work with Firefox. So you'll need Internet Explorer if only for that purpose.

My Windows Updates wouldn't work anyways, so I disabled I.E. by telling Norton to not let it go to the internet. There are some things I love about Norton, but it's the old Norton, not the new system-hog 2006 version. It DOES seem like Internet Explorer, along with a WHOLE BUNCH of other programs, want to go to the internet for no good reason. I have them all disabled with my Norton, but unfortunately I will have to let it go and move on to something else when my subscription expires and I'm forced to upgrade.

5. Not if you want Windows to function

Windows uses IE to view files on your local computer. I would strongly advise against using IE for anything; if a web site doesn't work with an alternative browser, then e-mail a complaint to the webmaster.

Also, the latest version of Opera browser works on just about every site I've visited, without the security flaws of IE.
