Why do some DUers have disabled profiles?
You ever click on someone's profile and see this?

"ERROR: No such user profile

The user has disabled his/her user profile."

What's the point of this? I mean, can't someone just leave everything blank if they don't want anyone to know anything about them?

1. That's what you get when you leave everything blank,
I believe.

2. It's the default setting, so you'll see it especially often with new DUers
Eventually, somebody accuses the new DUer of being a freeper because of the disabled profile, and this is how they find out about profiles (and knuckleheads, but that's another story).

I may be mistaken about it being the default setting; anyway it used to be.

If somebody has thousands of posts and still has it disabled, they're probably hoping to duck under the NSA's radar or something.

4. But why doesn't the day they joined show up, then?
Along with the number of posts?

I seem to recall seeing some profiles that had just that information and nothing else, but I could be mistaken.

8. They can change the default setting and still add very little info to the
profile. You used to see a lot with date joined, number of posts, and "gender: undeclared," too.

3. I would guess one of three, make that four,
reasons (in no particular order):
1. Antisocial
2. Privacy buff
3. Too tired or lazy to fill in the blanks
4. Troll, get 'em

5. Don't be so concerned about what other people do.
Leave people alone. Why do you care? Don't you have better things to do?

:smoke:
