Project Runway: I know who will win **spoilers**
Last night was awesome - Angela finally got the boot. Those damn flowers on her ass had to be the final straw although I think Vincent should have been in the final 2 over Kayne. I mean Kayne's outfit was definately a bit too flashy but Vincent looked like he was going out with the family for a dinner at Olive Garden.

Uli finally showed she's a 1-trick pony with all the patterns. The cut of her dress was amazing in the back but she should have kept in a short dress and hold back on a bit of the pattern overkill. She didn't look like a jet-setter, she looked like she was heading to a DU After-Protest Party.

I loved Laura's dress - if that was for sale, I'd buy it as incentive to finish losing the rest of this weight.

Final 4: Michael, Uli, Laura and Jeffrey. Uli will be the odd person out because she really doesn't have any style outside blending patterns. Jeffrey is this years Santino where most weeks he puts out outfits that are too fricking bizarre but at least put together well (exception of course is the dress for Angela's mom. If Santino had to design for Angela's mom he would have bought a burlap sack and put it over her. At least Jeffrey was somewhat accomadating).

Winner is going to be Michael. All designers have their own styles but Michael has this great urban style that even folks like me would love to own and wear. I just thought his outfit was so much better than Jeffrey. Judges said Kayne's outfit looked like he was trying to hard - I though Jeffrey was even worse.

Michael is winning it. The guy has yet to put out a bad outfit

2. When I saw the casting episode I thought Michael was too "Hoochy-Mama"
And figured he'd be out in the first couple of weeks.

4. I thought so too
he showed a lot of skin - I thought Maria Cary. but he's my pick to win. His style is so acceptable and he really seems sharp.

Is this the best show or what? I started watching last season on ipod - I live in Europe with limited entertainment. I downloading the free episode and got hooked. I still haven't seen the first season and keep hoping they offer it. I loved the follow up on Jay.

3. I agree.
I appreciate how Michael just gets the job done. He doesn't get involved in drama, he doesn't put other people down, he just puts out kick-ass clothes. By far my favorite since I've started watching this show.

5. He is such a thinker when it comes to his designs
I think some people just pull crap out of their ass toss it on a dress and call it a design (aka Vincent) but Michael is a real thinker before he puts his projects together.

My only question on Michael - is he gay or straight?

9. Same thing with Jeffrey
We know he has a kid but I mean gay men (or perhaps he's bisexual) can have children.

13. I could definitely see Jeffrey being bi.
Or even fully gay. I don't know for sure, but I could see it being more possible than Michael.

What about Kayne?? :D

14. Oh Kayne is definately gay, I think he even mentioned this
I don't think it's possible for a straight man to be that talented at designing sparkly, beaded, pageant gowns unless he was gay.

Or perhaps I'm just buying into the stereotype.

BTW - Robert (who looks like he has a great bod) was definately gay, he even mentioned it on the show. I suspected that perhaps Robert & Kayne would hook up - they look like they would make a great couple!

15. I know, I was being a jerk.
There's no way Kayne's straight.

Now, is Robert the guy that got booted off last week? I always forget his name, but yeah, that guy and Kayne would definitely look good together.

If you want him and Donte Stallworth (now an Eagle), toss another WR my way. I'll listen to offers. :-)

On edit: Don't look now, but I just snagged Kerry Collins too. Here's betting he'll put up some numbers in Norm Chow's offense.

26. Kayne has a boyfriend
He refers to himself as "married" in his Myspace so I guess he's in a committed relationship.

ITA that Michael is going to win although I imagine most people thought Danny V would win and Chloe ended up besting him at the end. I think he's a shoo-in for that new "fan favorite" award though.

6. My final four: Uli, Jeffrey, Laura, Michael
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 08:52 AM by Richardo
Vince and Kayne are definitely on the bubble.

Here's my remaining 'auf' predictions:

6) Kayne
5) Vincent
4) Jeffrey (he's had his moment - too contrarian to get to the final 3)

Uli, Laura and Michael in the runway collection smack-down

3) Laura's collection will be too much of one thing (high waist, straight lines)
2) Uli will have a colorful and varied collection
1) Michael will win - he puts a lot of thought and skill into his stuff.

(Note: I really should put this much thought into other areas of my life - like work and home. :eyes: I've been a reality-show contrarian (hadn't watched a minute of any of them) since the first 'Survivor' but I got hooked on 'PR' during my recent convalescence when they had an all day marathon of Season 2.

7. I think it'll be Jeffrey over either Uli or Laura
PR tends to have one controverisial person make the final 3 (Wendy Pepper, Santino) so I think this year it's Jeffrey. uli and even Laura are too pidgeon-holed into the same exact look. Last week was made obvious when Laura tried to put her style on a woman who was too short to wear that type of style and this week when Uli tried to make her patterns look trendy.

Jeffrey and Michael also have their own personal style but they seem to be able to style them into something everyone can wear ESPECIALLY Michael.

Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 08:49 AM by Richardo
He really has't had a clinker yet, has he?

...And you may be right - if Jeffrey makes it, Uli won't. She's way too nice - the opposite of controversial. Laura and Jeff would provide the high drama.

11. I HOPE Jeffrey gets booted soon
I think he's as much of a one-trick pony as Uli or Laura. So far, all of his dresses look the same. Besides that, he's an ass.

I think your assessment of Santino's outfits is interesting. I would never have said they were put together well, especially that jumpsuit he made for Kara that was falling apart on the runway. Instead of sewing, he would glue stuff together. Jeffrey doesn't fall in that category, but really, except for his "everyday woman" dress (which was hideous), all of his stuff looks alike.

Michael is probably going to win. I agree with you there. He's got a "point of view" as the judges often say, and his construction is always impeccable.

I think Laura and Uli will be in the top 3 with Michael.

Kayne will be the last to leave before the final 3.

28. I loved Jeffrey's outfit
I'm still swooning over Jeffrey (as a designer!) because his paper dress was by far the best of that challenge. I actually would have worn that dress happily. Michael's dress that round was fine, but definitely not my style.

This episode, I thought both Jeffrey and Michael's outfits were great. And importantly I think, they both fulfilled the challenge goal of a jet-setter look that traveled well. They both looked just as good when they stepped off the plane as when they got on.

I really liked Michael's preppy-meets-hip-hop Hampton's look. It was like Tommy Hilfiger but hipper and more interesting. I also liked that he took the constructive criticism that Tim gave in his walk through and didn't just pair it with a T-shirt as he originally planned, but was able to put together a cool shirt with short notice. I like the fact that he doesn't diss any of the other designers or get into the petty squabbles, but just thinks about his looks and gets his work done. The interpersonal dramas may draw some people in, but that's my least favorite part of the show. I'm watching for the clothes, dammit!

I loved Jeffrey's outfit, but I have always gravitated to that rock n' roll style. I agreed with the judges that it looked far more expensive than the $75 it cost to make. If I were to wear one of those two outfits, I would wear Jeffrey's look. That's a personal taste thing of course. In the toss up between those two, I'd have chosen Jeffrey's to win.

Laura's dress was very nice as usual. While her clothes are lovely, well made and elegant, they just don't seem that creative. I appreciate that she focuses on the details of design and construction, and honestly, I would wear that dress. I wouldn't wear it on a plane though, especially not with 3 inch stiletto sandals. It looked like a cocktail dress and I thought it was just too dressy for a flight, and had to be worn with totally impractical shoes. It did travel well.

Uli's dress also didn't seem like something I would fly in. It was too strappy and low in the back, she'd be freezing to death at altitude! Plus it looked like she fall right out of the bodice if she tried to lie down. It was also too long; she had to hold up the skirt to walk and that just isn't practical for running through airports. It was pretty, it looked like a nice tropical sundress. But she is kind of doing variations on the same theme week after week.

Vincent's look, surprisingly, was rather boring, but while not jet-setter exactly, it was certainly a cut above the average jeans and T-shirt that most people wear on a plane. It was comfortable and it traveled well. It was interesting that the one judge who liked this outfit was Francisco Costa from Calvin Klein, because Vincent's outfit was simple and streamlined, like a Calvin Klein.

Kayne's shirt was tacky and over-the-top. He just doesn't seem to have any insight into the fact that his personal aesthetic is trashy. He thought the shirt was way cool, even though everyone told him it looked like an Elvis tour costume (and that wasn't a compliment). However, it traveled well and at least he paired it with plain black pants.

Angela's outfit was simply hideous. Jeffrey hit it on the nose when he described her as an arts and crafts macaroni paster. The fact that she called the macrame flowers on her butt "signature Angela" says it all. The woman has no talent. It was weird that she seemed so excited to design her own jet-setter outfit but then admitted she had no idea what jet-setters wore. No duh! No to mention, she chose LINEN, the absolute worst fabric on creation to travel in. Linen wrinkles irreparably just walking across the room! She looked like a bag lady! And her top was just indescribably horrible. Ugly! She deserved the boot. And the good thing is that with Angela gone, there's nobody for Jeffrey to fight with, so the whole atmosphere should be more pleasant now. (I still think she and her mom were colluding to get him booted last week.)

I think unless they have an evening gown challenge next, Kayne will be the next to go, then Vincent, then either Laura or Uli. Laura could edge out Jeffrey, because she is more consistent. But Jeffrey is more creative. I think Michael will win the whole thing, but Jeffrey or even Laura could win if they really do some great stuff coming up. Uli probably won't last unless she can prove she can do something besides put a bunch of patterns together in a nice sundress.

your assesment was very well thought out.

i guess my problem with michael is -- while his stuff is undeniably gorgeous -- it isn't new.

BUT i do think he's giving it his point of view -- which at the end -- the designer who presents his or her point of view the very best wins.
