1. I take everything literally. It's almost a matter of policy.

Even if I know it's not meant literally, I just can't help but respond as if it were. I don't know what my problem is.

Also when I was a kid, I was often told that I was too serious and that I thought too much.

"You think too much," someone would say.

And I would think, "What the hell am I supposed to do with that? Should I bang my head on the floor until I drop 30 IQ points? Should I start drinking?"

2. I hear the same thing still from perfect strangers even!

"You should smile more."

What if I don't feel like smiling? What about that?

When people say you think too much, they are just jealous because they don't think at all.
