41. Indeed
Jon Stewart was my first thought. He did an Esquire interview that they let him "proofread" with a red pen, leaving the proofred marks in...and the interviewer said "Jon has a poster of Niel Diamond in his office", to which he said "It's actually Lenny Bruce, but we all look the same to you people".

25. I love Jon Stewart's line the other night
when he was interviewing the guy that starred in the movie "The Hebrew Hammer"--

"you are the most Jew-y person I know"

I laugh everytime I think of that. As my grandmother would say "oy, so full of vitsen (wisecracks) that one."

14. S. J. Perelman, who wrote *for* the Marx Bros.
Legendary humorist and absolute genius. REad anything by him, you will not be sorry!

A few notable Perelman quotes:

"Love is not the dying moan of a distant violin - it's the triumphant twang of a bedspring."

"There is something about a home aquarium which sets my teeth on edge the moment I see it. Why anyone would want to live with a small container of stagnant water populated by a half-dead guppy is beyond me."

{On God}"Whom you doubtless remember as that quaint old subordinate of General Douglas MacArthur"

"I don't know where we're going or how we'll get there, but when we get there we'll be there - and that's something, even if it's nothing."

Alan King.

Robert Klein shouldn't be forgotten, either. His routine on "Merchant Of Venice" was one of the funniest -- and most poignant -- things I've ever seen.

22. Jerry Seinfeld????
He couldn't joke his way out of a paper BOX! Sure he had a good TV show, but his standup is boring beyond repair! How many times are we going to hear about the fricken peanuts on airplanes!

Now let's talk Lenny Bruce (yes he was Jewish), let's talk the dark horses of Jewish comedy. I'd even be willing to say Howard Stern was funnier than Seinfeld (yeah - he's a Libertarian nutjob, but sometimes he can be ON.)

37. Mel isn't funny anylonger
I admit the 60s and 70s were incredible but after that he just did stupid parodies..

Marx brothers were great.. if you just forget the movies they did "after" they said they were quitting. I think they did them because the guy that played the piano (gepetto?) got some gamblin problems and oved some gangsters money.

Woody Allen is great aswell.

Seinfeldt isn't really funny.. his show was pure genious but he's lame as a standup comedian.

Joe Lieberman makes me laugh some too btw :p
