I have an interview tomorrow - any advice?
It's for a supporting role in the communications department of a state agency that regulates an industry I used to work in in the UK, and I am slightly overqualified.

Any tips? I've gone on about 25 interviews in the past year, and been offered three jobs. All of those I should've gotten, of course. ;)

5. I fear I am a bit overenthusiastic, actually
I am quite hyperactive and tend to be a bit too much, I think. It's a state job, too - they won't want anyone who might make their jobs actually RUSHED or DIFFICULT. haha

8. True. You'd think 13 years with the state would have taught me that.
But then, I did used to surf DU for most of my days there so maybe I did get the message. :D

bland. Don't challenge them.

This is a very simple article that really encapsulates how to win in a job interview. http://www.ehow.com/how_107717_sell-yourself-job.html

Also, this article on prep is excellent, how to handle those sucky questions: http://www.datsi.fi.upm.es/~frosal/docs/25mdq.html

I've been doing a lot of reading on sales techniques for a project recently, this article really keeps it simple and effective.

Good luck.

10. Don't worry about being over-qualified.
Especially since you have goals to work in a professional field. I know lots of people who are over-qualified for their jobs but it's better than the alternative.

And good luck!

22. First--good luck
Next--do something before the interview that energizes you. Then relax. Weird, eh? I like interviewing people who have a controlled energy and enthusiasm.
Don't criticize the program or tell them how they are missing the mark, based on your prior experiences. One of my friends has collosal bad luck with interviews because she approaches them from the I'm over-qualified and know that you can't accomplish all that you want through this job I'm interviewing for.
Again, good luck.
