The following is a link to a house for sale. Look at the second photo and its description. :)

The house is great! It's enough to make we want to move to Mass.

3. "new" and built in 1897
Even in an older state like Mass, 1897 can't be considered new.

5. Perhaps - to be totally honest though, I've heard way more DUers using the
word in jest than I have seen FReepers use it :)

6. oh, me too
I think it was seen a few times over there and we ran with it. On one of my last ventures into FReeperland, I did see a poster use either hugh or series, can't remember which, seemingly in seriousness. (or seriesnes)

8. Probably over $500K here, depending on the condition
I like to read real estate ads in cheaper parts of the country because I apparently liek to torture myself. It's frustrating, isn't it.

9. Around 500K here too
Unless you move it beachside (not beach front, just beachside, mind you). Closer to seven figures, then.

10. It's because it's in Western Mass that it's not as costly
In most of the state, closer to Boston or near the waterfront, $139k won't even buy you a one bedroom condo.

14. Not as bad as Emass, but still outrageous
That house is likely on St. James ave or Bay St., the front door is no more than 15 feet from heavy car, bus, and truck traffic all day long.

Hill/McKnight is an old section of Springfield that has both some beautiful old homes and also some really run down low income tenements.

5-10 miles away in any direction that house goes for close to 300K easy.
