What to do with my pup? UPDATE
Thanks so much to everyone who replied the other day. A good discussion always helps, and sometimes it's easier to write about it than talk about it!

Mikey went to his new home last night. I met the new owner's son at a gas station to drop him off, and he seemed like a really nice guy. He kept telling me how happy and excited his mom was, so that helped some. My sweet husband volunteered to ride with me for "safety reasons," but he really knew I'd be in no shape to drive. He drove me home with one had on the wheel and one hand rubbing my back while I sobbed.:loveya:

Big hugs for everyone else here in the Lounge who has lost a baby lately.:grouphug:

But I always try to look on the bright side or find a little humor in every situation. So today I am really thankful that I don't have to take anyone outside to do their business in a tropical storm! YAY!

2.  Yes, Good for you, and Mikey

You both will have less stress, and a doting older lady can give him that attention he craves .
Babies and children are "attention intensive", and pets usually end up getting the short end of the stick.
Add cleaning up pee on the floor to lotsa diapers/toilet training and you have one recipe for a mom spending too much time on one subject!
There will be plenty of time for great family dog(s) when the kids are old enough to appreciate a four-footed friend.

3. Thanks!
"Attention intensive" says it all!

I must say, I do feel like a weight has been lifted today. Not that I'm happy I lost my dog, but now that what's done is done, the stress has definitely lessened.
