Good Wednesday morning, Crew!
Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 04:37 AM by Random_Australian

:bounce:

Rise and shine! Rise! It's a whole new day! It's great from here!:woohoo:

How is everyone? I had a great day - mastery of statistics coming my way, hydrides and wavefunctions working :headbang:, and an AWESOME Capoeira class! :woohoo: (That is a Brazillian martial art disgiused as dance for those who don't know) and possibly from the really good stretch of muscles, I feel great! :bounce:

Hump day, Crew!:headbang: Think of it - after today, clean sailing into a weekend!:bounce:

How is everyone? I really want to hear! :bounce:

Time to rise and shine, crew!

The song of the day is "Ride of the Valkyries" by Richard Wagner.

Arrr, a good hurt. I can relate to that - my muscles are get soooo sore on thursdays (the day after Capoeira) so I will be feeling the same way tomorrow.

Edited on Wed Aug-30-06 04:47 AM by BuffyTheFundieSlayer
You already know how I'm doing.

I have a houseguest (not mine) coming tonight and staying for five days. It should be...interesting.

There are times I'm actually glad to be working as much as I am.

Edit to play grammar police.

Yes I do - and learnt a few new words in the process!

Well then.... uh, perhaps the houseguest will be someone really nice who just sounds like they are not going to be.

How bad can it be?

Edit: I replyed to your pm too.

I've known the houseguest for 29 years--I know exactly what I'm in for. They aren't nasty, just challenging on one's patience.

I'll check my PM.

I still take the Trazodone 150mg for sleep and I've been getting 7.5-9 hours (work schedule permitting) per day. I wake up every 1-2 hours some days but fall right back to sleep. Hopefully that will continue and not go haywire as it did before.

64. What about Silent HoneyChurch?
Yankovich is a comic singer. The song in reference has lyrics like (because it is going through the signs of the zodiac):

"Taurus! A very big promotion is around the corner.... for someone much more talented than you!"
and
"Libra - get ready for an unexpected trip, when you fall screaming out of an open window"

and of course

"Pisces: You are the true lord of the dance.... no matter what those idiots at work say"

A long and prolific career.

I am looking down the playlist of his songs - get this:

"Wrong Foot Amputated"
"Another One Rides The Bus" (satire of 'another one bites the dust')
"What if God smoked cannabis?"
"The Night Santa went crazy"
"Rice Rice Baby" (take off of 'Ice Ice Baby')
"I wanna be a stormtrooper"

It goes on and on!

76. I agree with you there.
I remember being SO tired as a teenager. I read somewhere that teenagers really need a lot of sleep -- more than they usually get.

You're so right! We felt like archaeologists the whole time we were working on it! Every bit of dirt or clay we took off revealed a surprise. As you can see from the pics, the dirt did a good job of hiding all the cool character. :D

Did you put an offer on that house yet? :bounce:

65. The house isn't that big.
And it will be an energy efficient passive solar home. We're not into mcmansions. The only reason the driveway will be grand, if you want to call it that, is that the property is landlocked except for the 500-foot-long stem that will be the driveway. The bit around the rock, enough for a car on each side, is all the road frontage we have.

It should take about 6 months to build ... and it's not scheduled to start until September. They've already dug the basement and poured the footers, so they're ahead of schedule. :woohoo:

I was complementing you on the amount of work done. Either that, or Australia is a much smaller country than you thought and I misjudged.

What does 'passive' mean in this context?

(I know the normal meaning)

84. They have whole neighborhoods of them (mcmansions) popping up.
We're building the first passive solar house in the area. Passive" means that it doesn't have solar collectors that can make electricity. Rather, the house faces the south and the front is almost all windows. The tile floors and masonry walls and fireplace will act as "thermal mass" to store the heat coming in from the windows.

101. Ah - makes sense. It IS difficult to set up good n-p circuitry, so it
sounds pretty good.

Here in Aus, that is pretty normal - if you don't orient your house the right way it will FRY. :)

I hate mcmansions, personally.

But I always remember not to judge them by looks - after all, you may be looking at the house of someone who always wanted a really big family, and worked damn hard to get it and enough for them to live by. :)

103. It can get expensive, too.
We just don't have the money to do everything we would like to do, so this is a good start. Just building a house with that many windows is extra! :wow: The thermal mass keeps the house from getting too hot. It will be interesting to see how it works.

You are right. You never can tell what the story is behind a house that might look a bit opulent. :D

Anyway, what is interesting is when you think something that turns out to be completely wrong, and there is a really interesting story as to why it was contrary to all expectations.

Like someone with a really big house.... because they had chronically claustrophobic kid, or something like that.

The things that happen sometimes. :)

I guess. I mean, the people in it--the kids--are all right. The teachers are kinda permanently sucky, but, whatever.

I just don't like to deal with all the stuff one must do at the beginning of school: getting supplies, getting to know teachers, etc. At least I have the same band teacher as last year and the same Latin teacher as last year. Those are some good bonuses. :)

Gonna go find my shoes and whatever now...

I will wash tonight. I don't like to put my clothes in the dryer (beside the towels and bed clothes) so I need to give it a couple of days to dry. Most stuff is washed but a couple of shirts I was wearing this week need to get through the laundry again. Even though I already have my suitcase in my apt already I won't pack till Friday evening. Still need to buy some stuff.
