Call me goofy.... But I liked Sixpence None the Richer...
They just had a nice Hippie pop etherial way about them even though I know they were Christian in orientation....

I also Loved Natalie Imbruglia's Torn....

Which I feel is one of the best pop songs that has come out in the last ten years....

Notice I said POP!!!!

3. I'm a fan, too

And I love Leigh Nash's solo CD. The only thing religious in Leigh's solo CD is the mention of heaven and angels. Those references are everywhere in music!

I also love "Torn," and some of Natalie's other work. While Left of the Middle is a bit uneven, I own it, and White Lilies Island is better.

Nothing wrong with some pop IMO. :hi:

22. I like their covers of "There She Goes" and "Don't Dream It's Over".
And speaking of Natalie Imbruglia, what did you think of the album she released last year, mvd?

15. just kidding
really

but that Torn song annoyed the crap out of me. Then my girlfriend at the time (not the suicide girl, another one, bought me the CD for my birthday, lol. For some reason I am laughing hysterically now at the thought of that. Don't take me personally, I'm just reminiscing. Nostalgia.

I'm sorry this thread is so painful for you......

There is no way the OP could have known that, however......

Perhaps a better way to handle your grief and loss would be just to use the "hide thread" feature?

Just sayin'.........

18. Sixpence None The Richer were good
I liked their songs, even if they had a bit too much airplay for my liking -yes, hearing them being played on the radio 6 times a day can get slightly tiring. But I liked and I still like their music

Natalie Imbruglia's Torn is an average song for me I guess -I neither liked it nor disliked it. I'll quite happily listen to it if it were on the radio but I wouldn't go out of the way to play it or find a copy of it. Another one that got massive overplay on commercial radio

20. Hi, sd1981!
Good to see you. Airplay doesn't usually affect my liking of a song. If I like the song, as I do with "Kiss Me" and "Torn," I could hear it over and over. A few songs do get tired though, like "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani. That song got annoying after repeated listens.

23. Hi MVD
Good to see you again :hi:

I do agree with you that I'm less likely to get tired of a song being played repetitively if I enjoy the song. I guess my main issue is that I feel that commercial radio here sometimes plays the song repetitively at the exclusion of other equally good musical hit which suffer because they don't get enough airplay

Nevertheless I will still enjoy listening to "Kiss Me" because I like the song

Natalie Imbruglia is Australian and I have a feeling that "Torn" was (and still is) played much more frequently here than in the US. I think that is perhaps what has increased my ambivalence toward the song

is a top-notch song. I could listen to that all day.

24. Me, too
At least, based on the handful of singles I know by them. I wasn't that big on "Kiss Me" (mostly due to how much it got overplayed) but I actually think their cover of "There She Goes" bettered the original :hide: and their take on "Don't Dream It's Over" was pretty good as well.

And, oh yeah, I never get sick of "Torn", though, even after countless spins on the radio. Plus, that video where Ms. Imbruglia half-dances, half-flails around along to it while lipsyncing I always found entertaining.
