An airport security story.
This is a first-hand account from a guy who accidentally dropped his iPod in an airplane toilet, and as a consequence probably got himself on every no-fly list in the world. The really shameful and embarassing part (for me) is, this happened here in Ottawa. Stupid public officials are nothing new in this city, but what happened to this fellow was inexcusable.

The story is way too long to quote here, so I'm going to link to it. Please don't be upset at the slow load. This is on the official World of Warcraft forum, which (a) recently had a software upgrade, and (b) gets maintenance'd on Tuesday mornings.

1. It's a great story, but it took more than 5 minutes to load on high-speed
cable connection (I walked away from the computer to make a phone call while it loaded). I think people will mostly give up on the wait, and it's too good a story to waste. Can you post at least part of it here?

By the way, were you ever able to use your iPod again? And were you able to fly back without undergoing a body cavity search or being tortured by Alberto Gonzales?

3. This didn't happen to me. I just read about it.
You can read some of it here:

http://www.theregister.com/2006/08/29/wow_terror_alert/

Sadly, it doesn't include the part where the customs officer tells him "I don't know what the law is, I decide what goes into the country".

2. Why am I not suprised. The WoW server is dead.
Did they release another buggy patch? The server usually goes down whenever a new patch is released and everybody jumps on the forums to complain about unfair nerfing or how Blizzard b0rked the game again.

4. I'm not sure.
I haven't played WoW in a couple of weeks now. I'm thinking of giving it up, in fact.

The WoW site is always buggy on Tuesdays. That's when everything, game and website, gets taken down for maintenance, and it never comes up clean. Plus, they've recently installed the new forum software. Give it a day or two, and it should come up fine. The Register story in my second post will still be on Reg's front page by then, so you'll still be able to find the link.

7. I've been kinda bored with WoW lately.
I'm thinking of switching to M:tGO, or maybe Vanguard when it comes out.

6. No problem getting the story on WoW, and am on cable
and :wow: What a story!!! OMG! The world is one crazy place anymore.

My son and his wife are flying in about a week, and plan on buying things such as shampoo, etc. after they get to their vacation spot. Will have to tell him your iPod story.
