I wanted to warn people to bypass the sci fi channel today. The horror that was Galactica 1980 is on all morning and after noon.
Damn my eyes for seeing that..

1. I don't see how 1980 is any worse than the horror that came before it
I really can't tell the difference.

8. Are you Serious
the original BG was cutesy and at times simplistic. 2 dimensional characters even.

But compared to BG 1980 it was Hamlet.

9. I'm sure threre is a difference....
...but that's like arguing about which Nazi is more evil or which Republican is more stupid. Yes, the difference exists, but it's kind of besides the point.

3. Believe it or not
As a young teen (13-14), I loved the show when it was on the air, as I also liked "Buck Rogers" with Gil Gerard.

As I grew up, I kind of looked on old Galactica as a silly and shallow little show with a big budget.

However, I was visiting some friends a year or so back and we ended up watching some of those old episodes. They actually seemed like decent shows, and better than my memory of them.

5. I liked it the first year, too
I mean, what young male didn't like Buck Rogers - what with Erin Grey in those tight jumpsuits, and the scantily clad Princess Ardala, and Buck's babe of the week?

6. It was all about Erin Grey
I was 13 when that show debuted - we were the most natural demographic, no doubt. :D

11. I too cringed when I saw that listed
I enjoyed the original series and hold a sentimental affection for it even though I now recognize it's shortcomings. But the 1980 version was just horrendous, I remember being excited about it when it was announced and then being disappointed when I watched it.

The original may be poor by many measures but it was perfect stuff for kids and now the new version is perfect stuff for adults. :)
