15. I hate to be a killjoy, but "stalking" is a real crime, an invasion of

privacy and a horrible and life-altering experience to go through.

Stalking is a legal term for repeated harassment or other forms of invasion of a person's privacy in a manner that causes fear to its target.

According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, 1 out of every 12 women will be stalked during her lifetime. 1 out of 45 men will be stalked during his lifetime. Over one million women and nearly 380,000 men are stalked annually.

It's not a joke. It's a bit offensive to make light of it in this manner.

Imagine if one started a thread "joking" about other crimes: rape or kidnapping or theft. I fail to see the humor and find it insensitive.

or dismissed and it's offensive.

I apologize if I seem oversensitive, but again, 1 in 12 women are affected in their lifetime. I am a huge supporter of women's rights and this is another example of a real issue that is too often made light of.

I had bad science fiction/horror movies in mind when I started this thread, so real life just was not considered. My apologies.

As for how sensitive you are - if we knew each other it would be oversensitive, but I don't see you often here so it is OK.

I didn't REALLY think that you were like a "fan" of stalking or making light of THAT kind... but I have seen it done all too often and like I said, I am sensitive to it.

It's the issue that pushed me towards registering here. When SD started to push the limits, I was livid and had to speak up.
