5. My parents feed the ones in their backyard bananas.......
and I've done that on occasion too. Those puppies will eat the whole banana.

She didn't have that wire mess around them, did she?

Well, I guess the deer is happy!

4. How cool!!!
I have cousins who live across from a forest preserve on the northwest side of Chicago. They see deer around all the time.

One night several years ago, I was driving home from somewhere and through the same area in the woods where the river flows under a bridge. It was pitch dark, but up ahead I could see a family of deer walking across the street. I stopped some distance from them because I didn't want to spook them with the headlights and watched them cross from one side of the woods to the other. They must have been fairly urbanized deer, because they totally ignored me. It was a terrific sight.

8. Moose do live in New Mexico!
I'm not arguing, I just thought his rack looked kind of Moose-ish. :)

Moose Parks In North America
Algonquin Provincial Park (Ontario, Canada)
Isle Royale (Michigan)
Kenai Penninsula of Alaska
Mt. McKinly National Park of Alaska
Rocky Mountains (New Mexico-Alaska)
Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming)

9. Series?
Maybe there's a few, I guess. I know I've never seen one.

But his rack might have looked moose-ish because he's a juvenile so it's still got the down on it which makes it look thicker. :)

10. That's no juvenile...
...that's an adult buck in his prime. And an impressive one, at that.

Deer shed their antlers every year. The velvet you see on his rack is a stage of antler growth. He'll rub it off on small saplings or brush pretty soon.

There was a big strand of velvet hanging off one of them when I saw him today.

17. Our community backs up to a county park and we have deer
around all the time. As well as the occassional fox. Many mornings lately going to work I pass 2 of this year's fawns grazing on the grass along side the road while mom stays in the woods watching. A few years ago I was coming home from work late. It was dark out and as I turned into the driveway my headlights caught the legs of an animal. My first thought was "oh my gods, my greyhound got out" because the legs were long and thin. But then I got a better look and it was a buck and 2 does on my front lawn. Talk about urbanized - my dogs were barking their fool heads off, bother because I had come home and because of the deer. The deer were calming grazing and ignoring everything. I actually got out of my car, walked to the front door and opened it before they ambled across the road to our neighbors' yard.
