I love my puppy!
Okay, he's not really a puppy, he's all the way grown. We got him from a shelter six months ago. He's stinky, he sheds a ton in the summer, he jumps and nips (but we're working on that) and he has really bad separation anxiety. But I love him anyway!

One day he was being a giant PITA and I thought, "we should have just gotten a puppy." But then I thought about the four months he spent in the shelter before we got him. It was a good place, but I'm really glad that he's here with us instead of there. I think he is, too. :)

I just needed to share. Thanks for reading.

2. I hardly ever go anywhere
so most of the time it's not a big deal. I think he's starting to get that we're coming back when we leave, but he still gets really excited when we come home.

6. That never goes away.
Every time I come home I get the "I thought you were gone forever" treatment. And then when I go to let them outside Cody, my clown runs to the kitchen, hits the tile floor and slids into the door. He does it everytime and everytime he looks surprised.
God, I love my puppies too.

5. No but
I have been knitting like a madwoman lately. The house is still a disgusting mess, but I'm planning on taking care of that in the next week or so. I think you're right about the nesting. :)

7. To me there is nothing on the planet more beautiful than a pregnant woman
When my best friend was pregnant, I stayed with her as the time got close (she was single at the time) One night at 4 AM i heard this noise in the kitchen. She was up in the middle of the night cleaning the oven. Ya'll are quite funny with all those hormones swirling around :D

9. Come over to my house and
you'll change your mind. I'm just now feeling well enough to shower more than once a week. If you had seen me around week 11, when I did nothing but puke and cry, you REALLY would have changed your mind. :)

8. Sometimes when I stop and gaze at Slicker, the guy I picked up
after 8 months roaming the streets...well, I just get teary eyed.
Same thing when I watch those Animal Precinct shows....I just look at my 3 and just remember how it could have been for them (except Toro, our first, we actually bought him)....

13. I have seen posted on my animal rescue groups some type
of medicines that can be given for separation anxiety. And I think it is non-prescription. Check out all the pet supply Web sites. Also go to www.Lambriarvetsupply.com. There is a natural remedy for anxiety. Its number is 40109. The description says it promotes a sense of calm in animals exhibiting fear, fretting, anxiety or any unwanted behavior caused by:
1. Being left along--separation
2. Travel Anxiety--motion sickness
3. Thunderstorms
4. Fireworks
5. Loud noises
6. Vet or groomer visits
7. Other stressful situations

Hope this helps. I order from this site quite often. The only drawback is that their shipping charges are quite high.

14. Thanks, Nicole, for giving this little guy a loving home...
I totally understand being overcome with such emotion for your cross-species special friend.

I adopted a beautiful Snowshoe cat who had a tough start in life, too -- he had an animal bite, and had to have his left rear leg amputated. When I contemplate those days when he was alone, scared and hurting so, it just breaks my heart.

But the vet who saved his life said that the cat "had to meet him halfway," to survive and he did.

Sure, he walks funny, but he runs *fast* and loves life!

Here's to the animals who make life special for us humans -- :toast:
