Duck and Cover

Anybody remember this? I do.
I was 10 when it was made in 1951.
It's funny now, but all us kids were very serious about it when we were shown it in school. Now we know that the Russkies had no intention of lobbing nukes over here unless we lobbed first.

Maybe this is when I started not to trust the folks running things?

2. I remember that
we did the same in NC. Inclement Weather Week we called it. Tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.

Except now we know "duck and cover" won't save one hair on your ass in a real nuclear explosion. :evilfrown:

4. South Park did a clever knockoff on this
A nearby volcano was threatening to erupt, so the boys got to watch a movie in class about "Duck and Cover" when lava approaches. Funny part was, they showed this family that was on a picnic - they get under the blanket and the lava passes harmlessly over them. Ha ha ha...
