Do Bill Maher's Guests Get Paid For Appearing On His Show's Panel?
Is there some sort of stipend? Free airfair? Food and lodging? --- Or is the honor and privelege of appearing on his show it's own reward?

What about when his guest are hawking their latest book? Do they pay HIM (or HBO) to appear on his show?

How do those things usually work?

5. When he was on ABC, it was airfare and hotel only
I doubt HBO is more generous.

6. there is it above dear it's called 'scale', at the minimum; they as...
well sign releases for the continued use of their face as a copyrighted 'material', so as to say and so forth, there is as well a consideration for the likes of residuals...if they have a good agent they pay some-little more then scale; which is what i would ask for, but it can all depend on just where you are on the scale too

http://www.sag.org

product placement would speak to arrangements entered into between HBO and whatever entity has produced, published, or otherwise has an economic stake in that product's presumably continued, or fledgling economic success

but my sense is that you already knew that
