My SO, a pair of crutches and a knee brace
My SO just came home from work a few hours early with the above.

The manager at work is pissed.

MRI on Monday.

Life is strange!

1. HIRE a worker's compensation lawyer now. Your SO's employer has one
and so should you.

Otherwise, you will not get the best treatment, and you will not get what you're entitled to. TRUST me on this.

I made some very, VERY serious mistakes in not hiring a lawyer immediately, which lead to permanent damage to my back, because I was not treated as I should have been.

Do it with a smile, with graciousness and with professionalism... it's just business after all!

3. Your insurance shouldn't be paying for ONE SINGLE penny of this injury if
it is clearly a workplace injury. In fact receiving care for the injury outside of the worker's comp racket will really muck up your legal case, so be very careful and keep track of every visit and a log of all care received, and with which doctors you met.

That being said, remember that the care given by the "industrial medicine" i.e., workers compensation health care and therapy place will usually kind of suck.

So find a WC attorney right now before too much care is given -- or not.

And in the future, make sure you and your SO designate with your workplace that you can receive care for a workplace injury with your own doctor. You have to do this before you've sustained an injury, believe it or not, but you don't learn about it until you need it... it's terribly confusing. You're given the option in your employment package, but you don't really know how much you need it until you've been injured.
