3. It might not smell to good at the moment. Last week there was ...
lots of dead fish floating in the Sea that needed to be cleaned up. Here's a report about it. I see that they expect to have it cleaned up by Aug 19th. :dunce: :blush: :shrug: :dunce:
Salton Sea fish die off could be deadly to birds

Stella Inger NewsChannel 3
Local and state officials are removing millions of dead fish from the Salton Sea. Its one of the largest fish kills in years and could spell trouble for local birds. This week's die off of 3 million tilapia is the largest since 1999. 7 years ago 10 million fish...

<snip>

Salton Sea authorities blame both of the major fish kills on the rising algae growth that reduced the oxygen supply for the fish. They hope to finish the clean up by the end of Saturday.

6. Nope, just if you go it might be a bit pungent. The article said that it
would be cleaned up by the 19th of August so there probably won't be a problem. I live about 30 minutes from the Sea and it is a beautiful clear day today. It is going to be a bit hot so if you do go, take lots of water with you. Have a great day.

Good times.

5. Sure, if you want to see scenes like this:
I was very disappointed in the Salton Sea, it seems to have suffered greatly by mankind's sloppiness, waste and greed. There was a line of foam all along the edge, which I assumed to be a mixture of chemicals from the runoff from the farms surrounding and to the south of the Sea in the Imperial Valley, and there were dead fish here and there which made the place smell bad. Also the New River flows from Mexico into the U.S., carrying all the untreated sewage and chemical waste from the maquiladoras into the U.S. from Mexico, and dumps it into the Salton Sea. Thanks, NAFTA! But if you're interested in sightseeing, how's about beautiful Bombay Beach, on the eastern shore of the Salton Sea:

7. When the question is "should I go to the water," never ask merely
"should I go." Ask "WHEN should I go."

:hi:
