What movie have you seen more times than any other movie?

Although I think we should disqualify "The Wizard of Oz" from this, if most people's experience is the same as mine: when I was a kid, "The Wizard of Oz" came on TV once a year, and it was an event. We usually had a slumber party, or went to one, and it was also the first time I ever saw color TV. Of course, at the age of 5, I ran out of the room any time the Wicked Witch came on. So I'm sure I've seen that movie more than any other, and I suspect it's the same for a lot of people. So, not counting that, what movie have you seen more than any other?

For me, it's a tie between "Psycho" (1960), "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" (1966) and "Harold and Maude" (1970) with approximately 12 times each.

The latter is sort of a family tradition. We put it on while decorating the tree (my favorite always exhibited behavior shockingly similar to Clark Grizwald). Tree decorating in our family consisted of my mom decorating the tree and my sister and I sitting on the couch eating all the candy canes. We'd also get yelled at for not helping and for eating all the candy canes before they made it to the tree. Yep, this tradition continues to this day.

It was something about our whole zeitgeist, I think. I LOVED that movie, drew pictures about it, it was a total "event" whenever it aired.

But maybe even more than "Oz" (or a close 2nd) is GWTW. As a teenager, I totally related to Scarlett and then emulated her. Then it got so certain lines have become part of my peculiar vernacular. Now I'm just pissed off when I see it, that she and Rhett were such idiots! (And the 1990s sequel, "Scarlett," was HORRIBLE.)

I hope someday before I die, somebody writes a really thoughtful resolution to that story.

When my son was a toddler it HAD to play nearly constantly when he was awake or he'd have a complete meltdown. (Unless we were "READ, MOMMY!!") Rewinding was interminable! When we were in the car, it was an audio tape of Disney's "Peter and the Wolf" - I can still get through a lot of that one.......

Which I have seen probably 100 times give or take. I did the RHPS cast thing in my teens, and we used to watch a video tape to practice our live show, and then the movie showed every other weekend.


Nowadays, other movies I've watched quite a few times include Moonstruck, Gladiator, Thirteenth Warrior, and Emma. I just get a kick out of all of those, they are ultimately entertaining.

I was watching it at least once a month. I'm down to about once a quarter now. I always watched it every Christmas when I was a kid--I'd stay up all night just to make sure I didn't miss it (before VCRs--I'm that old).

Next in line would probably be "Singing in the Rain" and "The Wizard of Oz," although the "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" is doing a pretty good job of catching up--I watch those movies a lot on the weekends. In spite of all the warfare, I find them quite comfortable to watch.

Others would be "Dead Again," the original "Manchurian Candidate," and "The Court Jester."
