Victor/Victoria

Great movie with James Garner and Julie Andrews!!!!!!!!!

Robert Preston is a grand old queen. Set in Paris. Victoria starts doing an act as "Victor," pretending to be a man. James Garner is so attracted to him/her and falls in love. He finally gets her alone and says, "I don't care if you are a man" and lays a big kiss on her. It's awesome!!!!!!!!

1. I loved it!
Norma eating chocolates: think, worry, worry, think... mm! too soft... It just gets like a vicious cycle! And then, before you know it, you are impudent!

2. I love that movie!
It totally changed my view of Julie Andrews, too. Sure, she had a great voice; but until she made Victor, Victoria, she always seemed so boringly conformist.

5. I love Victor/Victoria
That was Julie Andrews best movie, but I also love The Americanization of Emily with James Garner.

In both movie she showed she was not a bland, goodie two-shoes.

3. still pissed because Robert Preson did not get the Oscar for
that role.
We first saw that movie when we were dating, and it was one of the first movies we purchased when we acquired a VCR. Now of course we have a DVD version too. One of my top favorite feel good movies, one I will watch when I don't feel well, or am in a bad mood. Picks me right up.

Julie Andrews' husband was the director, and he is a comic genius. . . . Pink Panther series, The Great RAce, etc.

It's holding my soul togeeeeeeeeetheeeeeeeer!

This is a wonderful, feel good film. I would say this, Amelie, and Birdcage are as high as it gets in the feel good dapartment.

I loved the cast, the acting, writing, direction and music in this film. "Crazy World" was a touching, inspiring little song.

7. it's my favorite movie of all time
Every character is outstanding. The music is poignant and delicious. The dance numbers are terrific. The script is sparkling. I adore this movie and only wish there had been a sequel.

Favorite scenes include the last production number where Robert Preston (the old queen) is standing in for Julie Andrews (a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman), and does her song and dance in a Spanish gown, surrounded by flamenco-style male dancers.

And, of course, the very chi chi dance number at the Cafe where the dancers are two-faced and the evening is cut short by a fabulous fight scene and police raid.

You must watch this movie over and over -- it's funny every damn time.
