Deputy informs seniors their 'attractive weed' is marijuana

PRESCOTT - A Yavapai County sheriff's deputy patrolling a senior housing development outside Prescott Wednesday spotted a 5-foot-tall marijuana plant growing between two residents' driveways.

Deputy Justin Dwyer got out, identified the plant and interviewed the residents, spokeswoman Susan Quayle said. They told the deputy they thought the plant was "just an attractive weed, and they had been watering it because it looked so nice."

Quayle said it appeared the plant was growing wild and probably sprouted from a stray seed. Dwyer told the homeowners he would have to confiscate it and asked them to call deputies if more were found.

3. Attractive Weed?

I don't think so. They knew what it was. In my own garden, if it's a weed it gets yanked. I don't care how "attractive" it is. Just the fact that they were watering and caring for it speaks volumes. I'm surprised the cops fell for that one.

9. I like "weeds"

I had a great 5 foot weed plant growing outside of my window (not it was not marijuana, just a random plant). I was really sad when my building manager cut it down. I don't understand this hierarchy of plants. The one that grows easily in that climate should be destroyed, but the ones in the planters that need to be watered and fertilized are valuable? :shrug:
