1. Whatever. Don't Stop Believin' ROCKS.
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 02:38 PM by MrCoffee
Edited to add the lyrics to prove how much it totally rocks my casbah.

Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin
Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight people

3. Journey gets a bad rap.
I used to love that band, despite the sappy ballads...

18. Haha, I'm actually not kidding...
I used to get my dad to play the tape whenever we'd go on trips.

But yeah, I think they're pretty awful now, haha.

19. I still respect the musicianship
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 03:16 PM by southpaw
of many of the members of Journey, past and present. Neal Schon, Ross Vallory, Steve Smith, Aynsley Dunbar, Gregg Rollie... even Jonathan Cain is a solid musician.

...and while I may have outgrown much of their more commercial material long ago, I still have a soft spot for it because it was such a part of the soundtrack of my teen years.

6. Steve Perry can put his hooked nose
anywhere as far as I am concerned.

I am fully on board with Mr. Coffee for this one, and would like to offer "Separate Ways/Worlds Apart".

11. Two of them
Neal Schon and Gregg Rollie

Bassist Ross Vallory was from Frumious Bandersnatch and Drummer Prarie Prince was a Jefferson Airplane alumnus.

They have some serious psychadelic roots, bro!

12. I'm torn between
"Look Into the Future" from the album of the same name, the last one pre-Perry, and "Anytime" on "Infinity," the first one with him. The lyrics to "Anytime" are kindergarten, but the arrangement is great and Schon's solo kicks ass. :headbang:

20. The "real" Journey
Was that time in the late 70's just after Steve Perry joined, but when Gregg Rolie was still there.

Once Jonathan Cain joined, they became a Hallmark Card factory sappy ballad machine.

And their early stuff's OK if you like Santana without Santana.
