Apartment moving (to another state) advice:
I'm considering moving from NJ to Wisconsin (still deciding), but if I do, I want to do it as inexpensively as possible.

From what little I already know, I could a) rent a U-Haul type truck, put most everything in the U-Haul, and hitch my car to the back; or b) hitch a trailer to my car, and tow everything that way. However, I don't have a hitch for my car, plus it's a small car (2dr Civic). Renting a trailer is lot less expensive than renting a moving truck, but there's the issue with my car: can a Civic coupe safely haul a trailer carrying, I don't know, about 1,500 lbs? What about a hitch -- are they difficult to install?

1. I wouldn't
I don't care what anyone else says, that Civic engine cannot pull a load.

2. That's what I was afraid of
The cost savings of renting a trailer as opposed to renting a truck are huge. But the safety factor is what worries me.

3. You'll never make it across Pennsylvania
EVen if you manage to hitch it to your civic you'll die going up some of the hills across PA. Don't do it.

Get the truck, and hitch teh civic to the back. I've done that move a few times. Trust me. Get the truck.

4. Raven, off-topic, but
What's the area around State College like? I've heard the campus is in the middle of nowhere, but are there nearby towns within commuting distance that are decent places to live?

5. Mmm. not really
It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. AS far as nearby towns...for what? To commute to State College? Pretty much all that's there is the University. Nothing sizeable at least. little places. Nothing even of notable town size, imho.
