Breaking on CNN- TORNADO WARNING FOR NYC-ITS THE RAPTURE!
Edited on Fri Aug-25-06 10:11 AM by leftyladyfrommo
Wait - that can't be right.

But it is.

Everyone needs to run for the subway tunnels.

4. NYC isn't Kansas!
It must be the Rapture.

But why New York? That den of iniquity! That den of vipers.
That den of liberals.

I can't get the whole story - I just get a wierd add for CNN and then I can't get any further.

9. No such luck. We only have possible thunder storms here.

8. A couple months ago there was a funnel cloud right over the Hudson
between NYC & Jersey. Apparently, I just missed seeing it. Had I spent another 30 minutes in Jersey City, I would have seen it.

We actually do get small tornadoes in NJ, but they're not common. NYC doesn't normally even get a tornado warning. FWIW, the weather actually seems to be clearing up a lot. I'm about 35 minutes west of NYC.

30. Well, I'm not concerned at all.
Then again, I'm generally only scared of spiders. Tornadoes don't scare me and I really doubt I'll see one today. It's clearing up, not windy or raining here. I just looked at the weather channel and the worst of it is just passing NYC right now. There's a second line coming in, but they're not bad storms.

But we really, really need the rain - just not all at once.

26. Johnson Co MO is phase 3 on drought.
We desperately need the rain but not all at once. It'll just runoff, causing flash flooding instead.

I hate the thought of it coming tonight. I'll be at work when the chances go up.

32. I love them when I'm not working.
Before I had my daughter my friends and I would get liquored up and chase the really bad storms, especially if they had a tornado.

Nowadays I work with the developmentally disabled. My ladies are really afraid of storms and will fight me tonight because of them.

35. Will we get seven years without Bush?
That would be definite improvement.

We already have locusts and floods and stuff here in Missouri. So tribulation won't seem so bad.

34. It wasn't that bad. I'm just west of NYC.
The storm has passed over NYC and it's clearing up here. No rain. No wind. It wasn't that strong anyway. We regularly get way worse. There's a second line coming through but they don't look bad at all. Just plain rain. The forecast is possible scattered thunderstorms.

37. We get tornadoes here every once in a while
They're usually on Staten Island or in Queens, but they do happen.

I think the last one to touch down was in 1995 in Staten Island, IIRC.
