Poll question: Best Rapper Ever?
This really isn't my area of expertise, but I've got a few I like.

I'd also like to hear who you guys are partial to.

My personal favorite is 2Pac. I like the way he enunciates.

1. Ice-T
you can get a plastic rapper from any old dispenser.

All of his material is genius, the best of which is, Freedom of Speech: Just Watch What You Say.

10. Best song on that record is "Straight Up Nigga"
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 11:31 AM by BigMcLargehuge
"I'm a steak and lobster eating, bilionnaire meeting, cash money making, moving, shaking, corporate jet gliding, limousine riding, writing hits, filthy rich, straight up nigga."

Just awesome. His flow is unmatched, and I LOVE the way he takes the word "nigger" and both depowers it under the weight of ALL THE OTHER adjectives he uses. Genius.

14. Exactly! That is the best of some very good stuff.
Basically you can call me what you want, but I'm going to take your word and ruin the negative image of it for you. Oh, and fuck you too! Ice-T is outstanding!

17. now I just have to post the whole thing!
ICE-T LYRICS (publically available at: http://www.azlyrics.com/i/icet.html)

"Straight Up Nigga"

Damn right I'm a nigga
and I don'T care what you are
Cause I'm a Capitaal N-I double-G-E-R
Black people might get mad
Cause they don'T see
That they're looked upon
As a nigga just like me
I'm a nigga, not a Colored man
Or a Black, or a Negro
Or an Afrom American, I'm all that
Yes I was born in America true
Does South Central
Look like America to you?
I'm a nigga, a straight up nigga
From a hard school
Whatever you are
I dot care, that is you fool
I'm loud and proud
Well endowedd with the big beef
Out on the corner
I hang out like a house thief
So you can call me dumb or crazy
Ignornt, stupid, inferior or lazy
Silly or foolish
But I'm badder and bigger
And most of all
I'm a straight up nigga

I'm a nigga in America
and that much I flaunt
Cause when I see what I like
Yo I take what I want
I'm not the only one
That's why I'm not bitter
Cause everybody is a nigga to a nigga!
America was tole from he Indians
show and prove, what was tht?
A straight up nigga move
A low down shame
Yo it's straight insane
Yet they compalin
When a nigga snatch
Their gold chains
What is nigga suppose to do?
Wait around for a handout
From a nigga like you?
That why a low down nigga gets hyped
But I'm not a nigga of that type
I'm a steak and lobster eatin'
Billionaire meet
Cash money makin', movin' shakin'
Corporate jet glidin'
Limousine ridin'
Writin' hits, filthy rich
Straight up nigga!

Now I'm a write this song
Though the radio won't play this
But I got freedom of speech
So I'm a say it

20. We've had this "discussion" on AIM too.
LOL...we have agreed to disagree...

Hell, I think Chuck D is better than the Cube, although I like the Cube a lot. I'd say T, Chuch and Cube are my top 3.

3. Deborah Harry
She rapped on "Rapture", so I count her as a rapper.

I don't like the rest...especially Eminem.

5. Chuck D, El-P, or Boots Riley.
All of them fantastic, syncopated MCs with something to say.

Jay-Z is way way overrated.

12. I think you're right
Tupac has the best style, I think, while Biggie has the best lyrics...I only know a few of Nas's songs.

15. Chuck D
Bass in your face
Not an eight track
Gettin' it good to the wood
So the people
Give you some a dat
Reactin' to the fax
That I kick and it stick
And it stay around
Pointin' to the joint, put the Buddha down
Goin', goin', gettin' to the roots
Ain't givin' it up
So turn me loose
But then again I got a story
That's harder than the hardcore
Cost of the holocaust
I'm talkin' 'bout the one still goin' on
I know
Where I'm from, not dum diddie dum
From the base motherland
The place of the drum
Invaded by the wack diddie wack
Fooled the black, left us faded
King and chief probably had a big beef
Because of dat now I grit my teeth
So here's a song to the strong
'Bout a shake of a snake
And the smile went along wit dat
Can't truss it

but the all-time greatest MC is Melle Mel.
