Another house showing... and surprise! (mini-rant)
our house is nothing like what this elderly retired couple wants. Why the F*** do people look at houses they can't possibly want? It takes a minimum of 24 hours to get the place cleaned up and ready to show. "It's too large." If 5000 sq. ft. is "too large," then why are you looking at a 5000 sq. ft. house? It's like the other folks... they wanted acreage and/or waterfront. So they look at my house in the middle of the city? WTF!? I'm really tired, sick as usual and completely pissed off.

The only good thing happening in my life is I just got myself an iPod nano 1G. If I'm going to starve to death, I'm going to do it listening to good music. Sigh.

And while I'm griping, the weekend is here, the city is having a festival and I'm going to be without anybody to go with. SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT. I hate my life. I really do.

1. Don't get me started.
My house has been on the market for 90 days + without an offer, and it is not overpriced, it's beautiful, and there are too many fucking houses and not enough buyers.

Our open houses consist of tire-kickers and neighbors.

The mortgage is killing me, with 2 apartments to pay for also.

5. Yep. My STBEx bought his own place but we can't afford
two homes so he must rent it until this one sells. Then he needs to give his tenants reasonable notice. I feel like we will NEVER manage to make the break this way. It's unbelievable.

For some reason I thought you'd had some luck with the house sale. I must have imagined it. So sorry! All the "good" houses e.g. mid-size homes in better neighborhoods in our area sell within a few weeks, but anything out of the ordinary or in a lesser neighborhood can sit on the market for a year. It sucks.

4. I love going to festivals alone!
music festivals, I mean. It's not a bad thing at all. I'd never drag anyone with me to a music festival because I run all over the place trying to see as many bands/performers as I can and most people just want to loaf around. I may make a date to meet up with people at a certain stage but I prefer to go alone and make my own agenda.

7. Well, that's one way to look at it.
And it makes sense. Last year I couldn't get my kids or husband to stay and listen to any of the bands I wanted to hear, but was constantly being dragged off to see the yodeling or native American drummers or whatever. Maybe I'll go alone. Maybe.

11. Do it!!!
There is nothing like being able to just do what you want. I have to do it this way in particular because I really hardly ever go in bars so it's my opportunity to see as many bands as I can a)outside and b) for free.

6. sorry about your day...
Maybe the realtor should screen these people. When we were selling and buying, it was a nightmare. People who did not qualify for a loan when looking at our home. As buyers we looked at this totally sick home, I mean OCD, dirty home....I'm a little OCD, but I'm on the clean end of it. We had to walk through piles of garbage and there were disgusting leaks, and the realtor said I'm sure they put everything in the disclosure. Disclosure, those people didn't know where their sofa was, much less where the leaks were. As far as looking at homes...I think people do it out of curiosity, nosey, but at the seller's expense of inconvenience and false hope of a good potential buyer.

Go to the festival, maybe you'll find a cutie.

Sorry about your day.

8. I'm sorry, crim son.
I remember what it was like in the not-too-distant past. Our house was too small (just over 2000 sq.ft.). People came who wanted a 2-story -- and it was clearly listed as a one-story. It's definitely stressful showing houses.

Good for you on the iPod nano! :applause: Good music is a requirement! :D

10. I love my nano.
I'm going walking with it tomorrow, to break it in.

What I don't like about showing the house is that I always get my hopes up. I should realize by now that it's a waste of mental energy, but so much is hinging on my selling this place.

12. Exactly!
I used to get SO excited when we had a showing. I'd even wipe out the kitchen sink so there were no water spots. Then I'd hear somethinglike, "it's too small." x( The people who eventually bought it acted completely disinterested. So you can never tell until the phone call comes.

Good plan ... walk with the nano.

13. I've been getting lots of those
"It's beautiful but the floor plan isn't what we were looking for".

Well then why the heck did you bother to come out here in the first place??? The freaken website clearly specifies what type of floorplan we have so you shouldn't be surprised.

This isn't the old days when people had to rely on a few lines in a newspaper. They now have half a dozen pics and full descriptions online. There's no reason for anybody to be confused about what they're going to see.

14. Yep, got that one too.
We even gave the realtor a copy of the original floor plan and he made it available to the buyers' realtors. x(

I don't know what's worse -- getting one like that or having them call for an appointment and then not show up. I hope I never have to sell another house.
