I want a new band
Not that I don't enjoy playing with the people I play with now, but they've all got too many time constraints, and I want to play more.

I want a nice simple band: two guitars, bass, drums, and everybody sings (except maybe the drummer). I'd like harmony vocals. I'd like it to be something of a pop band-- I like a certain amount of edge and/or dirt, but I don't want a full tilt grunge fest or post-punk squall. I like songs with verses, choruses, middle eights, each bit a distinct melody. And I like a certain amount of surprise, especially in chord changes. I like guitar solos too. Not that I expect the band to sound like this, but the inspirations I propose to draw on are the Beatles, the Byrds, the Who (pre-Tommy), XTC, and Richard Thompson.

I'd really like it if all the people in the band had the same excessive devotion to the '60s as me, and would like to go out occasionally and do tribute shows. Right now I'd really like to do a whole set of the recently deceased Arthur Lee, under the name "the Clark-Hilldale Band."

I'm posting this partly because there aren't any good rock'n'roll flame wars in the Lounge right now.

4. Some jokes just write themselves
Seriously, I don't want to dress any differently than I do now. And I prefer pants that fit properly.

5. Just as long as you name the band "Giggles"
and wear a kilt, all will be well. Good luck with that.

Hope it manifests for you.

9. crap, too bad I live here!
and I'm a drummer who can actually sing!

Sounds like a good plan.

I still want to form a band of ex-punk moms. There were a bunch at the punk re-union I recently attended, but they mostly live really far away or have too many commitments. That's what seems to happen in midlife.
