Stop Paying for People to Lie to You
Would you believe someone who has repeatedly lied to you ?
Would you believe someone who even says it may be necessary to lie to you ?
Would you believe someone who acknowledges paying others to lie to you ?
Would you believe someone who never admits having made a mistake ?
Would you believe someone who spreads Depleted Uranium dust over the whole world ?
Would you believe someone who has an ear piece telling them what to say ?
Would you believe someone who orders and/or covers up the deaths and torture of innocents ?
Stop believing the half-truths, the outright lies, and the obfuscations.
Kill your TV.
It's all propaganda. Who do you think owns these stations ?
They are paid to lie.
They are paid to make you think they occasionally broach the truth.
They are paid to hook you in emotionally.
They are paid to perpetuate myths.
And you pay them for the privilege.
Disconnect that cable. You don't need it.
Why do you think they call it programming?
Escape the matrix. You know the truth.

Magical

1. So where do you get your news? Or is it time to tune out? It's too late,
I'm thinking.

3. Here's the Problem
Why did this topic get moved to the lounge ?

I research stuff on the net, but those days of freedom may be short lived.

All the mainstream media is owned by a handful of corporations.
They have a vested interest in keeping you in the dark.
Once you completely understand the sociopath mind, you see right through it all.
There are a huge number of sociopaths running the show.

Hate to say it, but by and large the whole Democrat/Republican charade is all for your edification.
There is basically no difference.
Ever see 'em debate each other and then 'wink' afterwards.
It's all for public consumption.
Who counts the damn votes ?
There might be a handful of honest ones...Kucinich, Conyers, Paul, etc.

MOST of what you have been told is a bald faced lie.
It's ALL a freaking charade.

6. Television
Mass media for mass production to feed mass consumption.
Of course you are free to choose, just make sure you know what you are choosing.
Read Jerry Mander on why to get rid of TV.

I'm siding with Sun Tzu on this one.

16. Jerry Mander
He assumes everyone is going out to buy whatever they see advertised.

I don't rush out & buy things just because I see them advertised on t.v. I'm cheap like that.

I don't believe everything someone like Jerry Mander says. I'm smart like that.

18. Yeah, those "critical thinking skills" come in handy ALL the time!
I try not to leave home without them; this philosophy
seems to be working well so far.

4. ...but, "Good Eats"!
I haven't disconnected the cable due to the outrageous prices associated with premium content (yay, virtual monopolies!), so I seriously doubt that news spin is going to cause me to have a fit.

5. Sorry, but the tv is not getting killed anytime soon.
While I don't give the tv news much notice, I do enjoy The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The X-Files (which I'm watching right now) et cetera, in addition to the good movies that are on LOGO (the gay channel), IFC, Sundance.

Nope, I'm not killing the tv. It's only programming if you let it be.

7. Kill Your TV! They get away with this much because nobody reads
just ask Allen Dulles.

Read multiple sources of news - you can get translations from WatchingAmerica.com. If you want to watch Dancing With The Stars or Scooby Doo, you know what you're getting - just don't expect truth or facts to come out of the box.

13. Yep, Its Deep
No read book, just watch, passively, alpha brain waves, images directly into the mind, programming, violence, the mind watching the mind, ADD, young consumers, lies are truth, believe the good looking 'authorities'.

What a joke of an excuse for living.

14. There were stupid people before tv and there are stupid people with tv.
People do exist with critical thinking skills despite their tv watching.

15. Thought it was going to be a post about escorts. Darn.
The thing is, I don't believe anyone, whether they are on TV or posting on DU, or anything else. I don't believe Republicans. I don't believe Democrats. I sure as Hell don't believe anyone else, either. I don't believe you. No offense--I repeat, I don't believe anyone. I look up facts for myself. I figure out what makes sense. I learn on my own. If someone I trust tells me something, I verify it. If someone I don't trust tells me something, I verify that, too. I don't accept anything or reject anything simply because I trust or don't trust the source. If I believe something and learn later it's wrong, I change my belief rather than clinging to the old one, even if it means reworking my opinions on everything.

So I don't care if TV people lie to me. I don't pay them to tell me the truth. I pay them to give me info. Some of their facts are right, some are wrong. It's up to me to see past the spin and understand the facts as they are. Same with every other source--every liberal or conservative or progressive or independent or Green or Fundie or wacked out MIHOP believing buffoon out there can tell me the truth or tell me a lie, and the only way I can tell is by verifying what they say as much as possible, and if I can't verify it, I just don't believe it. I have a large part of my memory devoted to details I haven't confirmed or rejected yet. I do this in my personal life, too.

So I'll pay for the tv as long as I want to. Or would, if I could afford it.
