I'm teaching first year legal research. Actually, I just got back from meeting my class. I still can't get used to calling myself (or hearing someone else call me) "Professor". So weird.

But yeah, it's my first teaching gig and it's a law school. Talk about trial by fire!

I've never taught before. I am simply neurotic about the idea, especially a lecture-style class. I'm going for my PhD next year (I hope) so let's see how this works :(

I haven't actually taught anything yet. My class doesn't start until October. So far I've just met them, which has generally gone fine.

I'm freaked as hell about actually teaching...but I'm looking forward to it as well. I guess I know that once I get over the initial "OmgWTFAmIDoingIDon'tKnowWhatI'mTalkingAboutAndTheyCanTotallySeeRightThroughMe" feeling, I'll be fine. In other words, I'm sure I'll really enjoy my job by NEXT October. :P

22. I've been better......

.... my wife had major surgery today (open heart) and is in intensive care. She doesn't tolerate opiates well and that is all they have for severe pain. She is in pain, and neausated, and miserable, and there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I'm not happy.

... I have no doubt there will be a full recovery. It's just that the love of my life has to be miserable for 3 more days on the way.

I don't mean to whine, but waiting for the surgeon to come out and tell you it's done and she's in recovery is bad enough. To have to see your wife in such misery is really tough. I'm a mess right now, but like her, I'll get better and this will all be behind us soon. :)

38. Ugh. I'm so sorry!

My body has undergone a state of shock. Got some very strange news last week that completely turned my life upside down. I've lost about 5-7 lbs. because it's been hard to eat. I also contracted Mr. Writer's annoying little cold so I'm somewhat bedbound at the moment. He's better, in front of his computer playing Star Wars. I'm sitting in bed doing research and typing to you! :)
