I think I have a case of thread rage against thread hijackers.

Thread rage is like road rage, but requires more thought.

I have occasionally posted light threads here that are political in nature, but not meant to be taken seriously. They are obvious parodies, or something that just struck me as a bit humorous.

All too often, someone takes it and uses it to promote their own agenda. Their posts are usually not offensive enough for the moderators to step in, but it is aggravating to have a thread hijacked. Especially one that was not that serious to begin with, but was posted to perhaps share a chuckle or two.

I have read many threads where I've had a problem with the subject matter. But after typing up a heated response, I realized it would steer the thread away from where the original poster and most of the responders were taking it and I decided not to enter it.

Put another way, I made an intentional decision to not hijack someone's thread. Would that all my fellow DUers were that considerate.

And to quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."

10. Another way to look at it...

Each time somebody posts in the "hijacked" sub-thread, it kicks your post back to the top of the list, giving everyone another opportunity to read your OP, and then respond to your post (or to the sub-thread, if it's truly that compelling).

Hijackings do threads a favor by keeping them alive.

My kitten was one year old a few days back. Mia is cross between a Bengal and a Siamese/Bengal crossbred. She's sort of tabby with pale beige where any white bits would normally be - tiger striped back with leopard spot tummy. Don't think she'll ever be very tall but oh boy is she long ! :)
