High School sure did change people...in a good way
Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 10:37 PM by tinfoil tiaras
It's strange. In Middle School we had our cliques and whatnot and now here we are in highschool all together. Like today in the library after school, there was a whole group of us together that normally didn't hang out with each other in middle school at all. And i just got to thinking, "Wow. It's amazing what high school does." Gone are the days of "popular" and "not popular". Were all just people now. People with diverse interests and various personalities.

I guess we're all growing up in our own ways and, I'm quite glad about it. I have a good feeling about this year. It's gonna be amazing. We're gonna be the most amazing freshmen ever.

I'm inspired.

2. OK, now replace "middle school" with "high school"
and "high school" with "college."

Really, I found HS to be just like middle school except in HS I was the popular one.

3. Very true!
I found that in high school I hung out/talked to people I was worlds away from in middle school. Middle school was very clique-ish and hard for me. I hope you have a wonderful time in high school... live it up, girl! :D

5. Maybe not so clique-ish but still damned annoying.

:P :P

On edit: I find high school to be much the same, only now you're also avoiding the rotten seniors. :D Ah, being a freshman. Glad that's over and done with. ;)

9. The Seniors haven't been that bad this year...
hmmm...6 weeks until homecoming though! woot! And our first pep rally is tomorrow (it's a kinda stupid theme "Punks vs. Preps" but whatever). You know how freaking BIG football is down here, even for an acadimically advanced school such as mine (oh dear, i just was bragging about my school. sorry :( ).

11. You in a magnet?
My cousins down in Leesiana are. :D

Gosh, how I hate pep rallies--but then again, I am largely an anti-social downer.... ;)

13. Nope, I go to a private school
I used to hate pep rallies in middle school because I was bitter about not making the cheerleading squad (that was in 7th and part of 8th grade). The other half of 8th grade I didn't like 'em b/c Comrade David (the Middle School principal) made us BE QUIET. Who is quiet during a pep rally. Whateverrrrrr

High Schoolers always have fun at the pep rallies b/c they (or we) get to dress up and all... woot!

You have cousins in Louisiana? Cool...

15. They are transplants b/c of their father's job.
Born in Maine, moved to Minnesota for a few years, then down to LA two (??) years ago. They like it all right--they are in Shreveport--but I think they want to come home to Maine. :P

6. Good to hear, but it may not last
groups change and realign, but there will always be "popular" and "not popular" in High School

8. Just wait until you return for your 10 year reunion of HS
You will find that the people you thought you knew are nowhere close to where you are in life.

(At least that is what I felt many, many years ago).

20/20...hahaha, that could be like the theme.

It'd be really cool though, to see everyone all grown up... :D

12. I graduated in 1970, when I thought most of my class was very liberal
Went to my 10 year and saw so many conservatives I thought I was in the wrong building. LOL

20. It's good to get older and to change in positive ways.
Hopefully they both happen at the same time. :D

My oldest, a son, is entering 7th grade next week and turning 13 in November. It's a trip to be going through it all over again, through my kid.....

Yup, gettin' older and goin' through changes....it's all a part of Life.

I'm glad you feel so positive about this up-coming school year. Enjoy it and have fun!!

:hi:

Seriously.

Because my High School experience was even worse than my Middle School experience.... and I was a goth during the whole Columbine thing (In Middle School).

24. That's interesting
I hope high school continues to go well for you. It sounds like you go to school with a nice/mature group of kids. From my own experience, it did seem like the intensity of the cliques lessened in high school from middle school, but they were still a fairly regular presence that never went away. My own experience may be a little atypical, though. I "started fresh" in high school because I was fed up with how stuck-up I thought most of the kids I'd hung out with in junior high were; I decided to just stop hanging out with them altogether. In theory, I thought it would be pretty cool to be a loner who just hung out with my different friends from different groups who I liked without belonging to any group in particular; in practice, I ended up having a pretty hellish freshman year due mostly to loneliness and uncertainty about who I was. By the end of the year, I had found a new group and the rest of the high school ended up tolerable to good for me. So I do dislike how clique-ish schools can be, but finding the group I did did help me to get through high school without too much misery. Anyway... sorry I started rambling there. It's funny how, more than five years out of it, high school memories are still pretty fresh (a lot of them fresher than I'd like them to be!).
