Yesterday I realized why the Democrats will fail in 2004...
Too many people in that party do not take the concerns that less utopian voters have seriously. Instead they are ridiculed by self proclaimed experts... People don´t want to make felt like idiots, they want their concerns heard and considered. Sad but true. My vote will still be cast democrat but I have no hope left.

is an expert, well I shouldn't lump them all in that category but there are many. You're correct, they belittle people to make themselves appear bigger I guess. Don't give up, I'm still hoping that a vast majority of Dems can put aside their differences come next fall and boot Bush back to Texas. If we don't we're royally screwed. Hang in there.

2. You are reacting to Dems at DU and not Ann Coulter.
Sounds like something Coulter would say..Yes, I do think liberals are more determined to get the bottom and not believe what we are told to believe.
I just think it is the media upon which so many are hooked is so awful, we are screwed... Look to the depth of a real intellecutual such as Noam Chomskey...He presents his ideas in a take it or leave fashion. He does not force his views or ideas and certainly does not come across as a snob.. His voice is one of intellectual curiosity, promoting democratic ideas, and the well being of people..
If some DU members are overzealous, I don't see it out in the general public...Yes, we must as Michael Mooore says connect with the middle class(if there is any left) at Bowling alleys or wherever.
It is a matter of style not substance. As to being utopian..I think everyone wants a better society for our future generations. That is America's present disappointment. It is just how we state it...

By stating that Democrats will fail in 2004, you help to create that reality. It's just as destructive as the behavior you're calling out. Second, this is THE LOUNGE!

;-)

EDIT: Also, a question? What's your FIRST language?

8. I try that and have moderate success
So far I convinced 2 people who have never voted in their entire life to get registred. They´ll both vote Dean. It´s hard when your contacts are mainly in an environment that´s violently anti-politics such as the Heavy Metal scene.

6. My first language is german...
Why, is my english so bad ? *g*

About the issue at hand, the loss of the 2004 election is as sure as rivers running to the sea if Dems keep alienating potential voters. Since I don´t see any change in behaviour (and trust me, it´s not just here at DU) I´m stating my sad conclusion to my observation.

Riding on anti-Bush is not enough to win.
