What movie do you think has the greatest acting ever in it?
Not necessarily the greatest movie, but the movie with the greatest acting? A movie that is simply purely stunning to watch in its thespian perfection? (and matcom, that's "thespian", not "lesbian").

I'm thinking the following are excellent ones:

Strangers on a Train
Touch of Evil
Orson Welles' Macbeth
To Kill a Mockingbird
North By Northwest

Please add your own opinions to this list. I'm in the mood for seeing this weekend some movies that exemplify the very best of the art of acting.

10. The Talented Mr. Ripley
I was a Matt Damon hater 'til I saw him in this movie. He really did a good job.

I also like Viggo Mortenson in The Perfect Murder, he's the male Meryl Streep; when you contrast his role in this with role in 28 Days (Sandra Bullock film) and G.I. Jane it's just stunning how much of a chameleon he is.

Just about anything Jennifer Jason Leigh has done (with the exception maybe of Single White Female) is worth watching; she fascinates me.

25. The Hustler.
Can't beat the performances by Paul Newman,Piper Laurie, George C Scott, and even Jackie Gleason. Rare to see such pitch perfect ensemble acting from a movie of any age.

And a special honorable mention to Glengarry Glen Ross which simply has the best cast ever assembled in one film.
