Why do rapturists really want to go bye-bye?
Do they hate this earth so much that they cannot wait to leave it? If so, then they don't sound like very philanthropic human beings--and you KNOW their Christ was just the biggest, rudest misanthrope you ever met. :eyes:

Inspired by the "I can't wait to go HOME to HEAVEN" phrases always thrown around by people on the Rapture Ready boards.

;)

1. There are different reasons
I guess. One is that they're so into their "god" that being called by him is the most important thing in their lives;

Another is that they've seen hell on earth and want to see heaven;

Another possibility is that they're greedy, intolerant, fucked-up assholes who just want to lord something like this over the heads of everyone else;

Another is just simply that they're simple in the head.

My ex-friend pretty much got drawn into the cult of fundieism, so with her, it's that she's whacko in the brain.

3. Having anything beyond this earth be most important to me seems silly.
Talk about "evading the truth." :eyes:

2. If you told them that once they're gone...
...gay marriage will be legal and stem cells won't stand a chance, that would change their mind and make them want to stay.

4. Hi, WritingIs My Religion
Because...those types are secretly desperately unhappy in some way, brainwashed (by the fundie mentailty and propaganda), and clinging to the need to believe in something even if it's as unlikely as the Rapture happening. It seems like they honestly think they are all going to go to a better place that actually exists somewhere. I'm not against spirituality or a belief in God at all, but these Rapturists are just weird. The whole theory just doesn't make sense. :shrug:

That's my take on it, anyway.
