UW-Madison Dethroned As Nation's Top Party School

University Of Texas-Austin Tops 2006 List

UPDATED: 3:44 pm CDT August 21, 2006

MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison is no longer the country's best party school -- at least according to the Princeton Review survey.

The University of Texas-Austin has earned the title. The Longhorns beat Penn State University, West Virginia University and last year's winner, the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

.......

It topped the overall list -- its first time atop the Princeton Review chart -- by ranking second in the use of hard liquor, third in beer drinking and 13th in marijuana smoking.

For the ninth-straight year, Brigham Young University was voted the most "stone-cold sober" school.

Now that Tx. has the title, perhaps the Chimp can be their headmaster. Party on!

7. It was a glorious time for the college students of Wisconsin
Then, the drinking age went up to 21, they started confiscating beverages at Badger football games, and finally, put an end to body passing at games. The system schools (Stevens Point, Eau Claire, etc.) were lively places, too.

8. The Good Old Days
Don't forget Oshkosh. I believe Playboy still rates UW-Madtown numero uno. Pretty tough to beat State Street.

9. Then the dried up old bags raised the drinking age
The seventies were the best in Mad City.

It was fun. The focus has changed.

But there is still an edge to the place.
