I'm obsessed with "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley.
It's odd really, I hated the song when I first heard it, then I heard it again and didn't think it was so bad. Now I can't stop listening to it. It's like crack.

1. Did you happen to see "Crazy" performed on Letterman?
Watched it in HDTV and surround sound... and I admit it was pretty good!

5. It's a great song...
first time I heard it was when in Amsterdam, in May...liked it enough that I got the album when I got back to the States. And the video is pretty cool, too.

MTV 2006 Music Awards

I must have played that damned video 2 dozen times. The first time I heard it- I thought it was good but not something I'd be listening to hundreds of times. After the third and fourth watching I realized I was going to be playing it alot more.

GREAT song.

11. Your should hear Ray LaMontagne's interpretation of it!
OMG. Earth Shattering. It's just him and a guitar, all the pop glitz gone.
Raw. Gorgeous.

12. DJ Danger Mouse (one-half of Gnarls Barkley) is a freakin' genius.
Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 11:05 AM by Shakespeare
If you're into hip-hop, download a copy of his (banned by EMI) Grey Album--he's mixed Jay-Z's Black Album with the Beatles' White Album, and it's incredibly good. Several critics named it the best album of 2004; may be the first time a banned album has received that honor. Here are some links that talk about it:

15. Incredible album.

And he picked the perfect Beatles songs to match Jay-Z's lyrics in every instance.

EDIT: Danger Mouse also put out a great rap album that featured samples from the Adult Swim cartoons: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B9EYDY/ref=pd_kar_gw_3/104-2487342-4291946?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174

I know you said you don't like hip-hop, but he has some crazy beats in there you usually don't find elsewhere.

16. I'm thinking about buying it
And I'm not even a hip hop fan. I'm not a good judge of hip hop because I just don't like it - I'm even a better judge of metal (which is why I'll say the new Helmet album sounds lackluster) - but Gnarls Barkley leans more towards R&B/soul, which I like. "Gone Daddy Gone" is even a bit rocky.

18. Here's a link to eBay:

Although when I bought mine off eBay, it was literally 1 cent plus shipping. Still, it's worth paying full price for.

Gnarls Barkley bridges genres quite well. They are not just another hip hop band.
