1. You mean...
They might actually go back to getting good shows, or get worse ones?

Remember "Sci-Fi Buzz?" I miss that one.
Including Harlon Ellison's rants. :-)

Because except for a couple of shows, that's all they understand.

17. I totally miss Harlon Ellison....
...and Sci-Fi Buzz. Gee, a Sci-Fi channel actually talking about Sci-Fi. Imagine that?

2. I tried to get into that show. I really did.
However, my condolences go out to you in losing a beloved show. I was mad as hell when they canceled DS9 then announced they wouldn't be making any DS9 movies. Of the two Stargate shows, Atlantis was definitely the inferior one.

7. That's pretty weird, considering Sci-Fi has been the "All Stargate, All
The Time" channel the last couple years.

I hope this means they'll stop playing reruns 18 times a day.

Of cancellation and everything else about the show?

16. My guess. I was probably costing more than advertising revenue.
Still sucks, but as a reminder to everyone...

IT'S CALLED SHOW-BUSINESS, NOT SHOW-FUN.

After that long of a run, people get greedy all along the food-chain of TV. And, I'm guessing, Sci-Fi has figured (and probably accurately) that they can still make a killing on re-runs for the next 5 years. All they have to do if pay royalties and profit off of similar ad rates to new shows. After all, it's still a business and you wouldn't expect Whole Foods to offer 25% of their foods (at a loss) for a couple of years, why expect a TV company to do the same with it's wares?

10 years is a huge run for a TV show, but it always sucks when a good, fun show gets canceled.

25. It was more of a ratings thing.
The ratings on that show have been down for some time now. It's actually lower than Stargate: Atlantis, if you can believe it.

19. Fear Not, Friend
Fear not, friend. All shows are eventually canceled.
You've got 10 years of episodes to hold you.
Trekkers survived for decades on a third of that.
Thank the gods SG-1 never jumped the shark the way Andromeda did.

24. But I LOVE The New Cast... Ben Browder and Claudia Black Are PERFECT!!
Richard Dean Anderson was starting to look a little haggard and seemed to be weary playing that role... he made a good decision when he left the show. Ben Browder was the perfect replacement for him. I'm not sure why Don S. Davis left, but Beau Bridges is an adequate replacement as well. I was positively delighted to see Claudia Black join the cast! (Can you tell that I'm a fan of Farscape, too?)

I'm having a difficult time in getting excited about (or even interested in) Stargate Atlantis. None of the characters appeal to me... in fact, most of them rake my nerves a little bit. --- Especially David Hewlett's character. That whiny know-it-all "Dr. Rodney McKay" just annoys the hell out of me. (I guess that's how his character is supposed to be, so that speaks well of Hewlett's acting skills, right?)

Anyway, I could live without Atlantis, but will definitely miss SG1.

I hadn't heard about this. I'd heard rumors, but nothing decisive.
