I'm pretty fortunate.

7. that's what depresses me.
I cannot fully comprehend how fortunate I am, in the state of worries of so many things that could be a LOT worse that so many millions are in. right now.

I can't really see what condition my condition is in.

65. That is how I feel, QuestionAll...
I know that I've got it good right now but I am so worried about so many things that it is very difficult for me to enjoy life.

My wife tells me that I cannot carry the weight of the world on my shoulders and I know that she's right. I just can't help it.

72. Ever tried a "worry sheet" ?
Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 12:25 AM by Breeze54
I haven't but it seems like a good idea!
I think I'll create a logbook on my computer and try this technique!
The article below had some interesting idea's. imho!

The trick is that whenever you feel plagued by a worrying thought,
note it down on a "worry sheet" (a piece of paper set aside for the purpose)
– you can then forget about it, knowing that you plan to worry later.

This deceptively simple technique is effective because it bypasses
the psychological obstacles mentioned above.
Your mind is "fooled" into thinking that you haven't given up worrying.
Meanwhile, you lose the habit of worrying in the present moment

http://www.anxietyculture.com/worry.htm

"Undoing the Worrying Habit"

Once acquired, the habit of worrying seems hard to stop.
We're raised to worry and aren't considered "grown up" until we perfect the art.
Teenagers are told: "you'd better start worrying about your future".
If your worries aren't at least as frequent as your bowel movements,
you're seen as irresponsible, childish, aimless.
That's a "responsible adult" game rule.

To the extent that worrying is learned/conditioned behaviour, it can be undone.
There are psychological gimmicks for undoing the worry habit. There are also obstacles.

5. I'm apprehensive.
I wouldn't say depressed. But I am worried about what is going to happen in the next few months. Whatever comes, I'll deal with it, like I always do. It's the worrying about it that sometimes is hard.

Thanks for asking.

but also sad in a way to see that so many others feel the same way. At least I know I may be depressed, but I'm not alone or crazy. What scares me a little is that Summer is usually my absolute best time of year, but I'm already down, going into my worst time of year--Oct through holidays.

One thing I love about DU is that it reminds me there are very good reasons for not exactly feeling happy nowadays.

77. I am pleased to hear you're doing better !
