I have a potential job lead
unfortunately it would be a 100 mile round trip drive for me every day :( A friend of mine who graduated the year before me took a job as the head athletic trainer at a small college outside of Philadelphia last year. Apparently she was the only athletic trainer employed by the school (normally a school that size would have 2-4 or at least a few GA's) so she was swamped. They were actively looking for an assistant this summer but wanted to hire someone with a masters, when nobody wanted the job they extended it to anyone with certification (thats me). She contacted my ex-roommate about it and asked if she knew anyone who would be interested and my roommate gave her my e-mail.

I'm guessing she will contact me some time this week about it. It would be a tempting offer if she wanted to give me the job (basically if I wanted it, I would get it...we were pretty good friends back in college...unless it's already been filled) but I'm not sure I would want to deal with that commute every day, that and I would only want a 1 year contract since I plan on going to grad school in the fall. It would make little sense financially for me to move all the way out there for only a year because I'm guessing the assistant pay isn't going to be a ton. But on the other hand I would be actually doing something I love for this year as opposed to working as a substitute teacher which is something I'm not looking forward to.

But who knows maybe someone already accepted the job or they want more than a 1 year commitment and I'm going crazy for no reason. I figured I had to tell somebody because I don't want to say anything to my family until I know more.

1. Take it.
It's experience.
It's temporary.
It's not much more than an hour's drive.
You'll like it.

2. It was just so out of the blue
that it kind of took me by surprise. If it is offered to me, I'll have to give it some serious thought...plus I know my boss won't be a total dick!

4. You'll remember the year there and not the commute.
Good luck!
