Hey kids! It's time to revive that old Lounge tradition...HOOK 'EM!
Yes, once again you'll get to journey with me all the way to another National Championship! I'll be posting annoying bits of Horns trivia and photos of our hapless victims every week for your enjoyment all the way until next January! Excited? I know that I sure am!

Say it with me now......

HOOK 'EM!!!!!!!!

1. Your schedule is certainly helpful.
There are only two games you could legitimately lose (Ohio St and Oklahoma) and two potential upsets (Texas Tech and Nebraska). That really isn't much, especially considering none of those teams are exactly great either (I'm not sold on Ohio State AT ALL).

Now, are you guys the best team in the nation? Almost definitely not. But you probably have the best chance to win it all.

2. Alright! You're on the bus!
Nebraska does scare me, Oklahoma sans Bomar not so much anymore. We'll see what the Horny ones have come Sept. 9 when Ohio State comes to town. Tech will be a good test, and the Aggies are always tough, although we play them at home this year.

5. Actually, I'm on the Irish bus.
I think they're a far superior team, quite frankly, but I think their schedule is murderous. Ditto for Auburn and Florida (well, before their O-Line injuries anyway). The SEC is too strong for its own good this year.

6. The SEC always cannibalizes itself......
The Irish will be very, very good, but you're right in that their schedule is (as always) an endurance test.

I heard the same stuff last year, about how our schedule was soft and there was no way we could beat big, bad USC. We actually have a tough road this year if Oklahoma and Nebraska play up to potential.

Look out for West Virginia, too. They're loaded and have a creampuff schedule. Plus, they play from a conference with an automatic BCS bid. No conference title game to get in the way.

7. USC didn't exactly play an exhaustive schedule either
The PAC-10 is just as cupcake as the Big 12, if not more so.

I don't see either Oklahoma (with or without Bomar) or Nebraska really being all that good either. Good for the Big 12, but not good nationally. They'll probably be ranked between 15-25 all season, if they're lucky.

You're right about WVU. I'll be a bit surprised, actually, if they're not in the national title game (where they'll get stomped). Let's put it this way though, if Notre Dame, Florida, or Auburn somehow make it through their schedules with only one loss, they should be in the national championship (provided that loss in not in the SEC Championship game).

8. Georgia is actually my dark horse SEC pick
They're underrated right now. Look at 'em in October when conference play really heats up. A 1-loss Florida would play well in the title game. The strength of schedule component of the BCS would give them a lot of weight.

Still, the Horned Ones look good right now.

9. Georgia is just like Michigan, Tennessee, and the Indianapolis Colts
Overrated year in and year out heading into the season. It's a surprise for me when they actually meet expectations.

The Horns do look really good - but the QB issue shouldn't be downplayed. Unless someone pulls a Matt Leinart, there will almost definitely be a drop-off somewhere down the line. I find it very difficult to believe they won't drop a game or two sometime this season because of QB growing pains.

10. Well, Colt McCoy has looked GREAT in camp
BUT, point taken, he's a sophmore who has yet to take a snap in a college game. Jevon Snead looks good, too, but he's a frosh. What mitigates that, though, is that we're stacked at every other position. The defense is VERY experienced and will tear the shit out of most opposing offenses. The O-line is tight, the backs and receivers are top-notch, good special teams........very few weaknesses OTHER than at QB. If McCoy can keep the interceptions down and the handoffs high, we've got as good a shot as anyone.

12. I'm going to the WVU Marshall game Labor Day weekend
not only is the Herd going to get crushed I understand that I am in for the rudest day of my life. Morgantown is supposed to be really really bad with violent drunks on gameday and cross state rival Marshall only adds to it.

14. Watch out for Va.Tech
because they play NO ONE escept Miami. Beamer could go 8-0 with little effort before they play at Miami

but then again this is Tech. I don't see Temple on the schedule but there is a Temple in there somewhere

I'm sure that you meant to say "HOOK 'EM"!!!

Nice Alamo Bowl win last year, by the way. You guys are all set for another run at a 9-3 season.
