I'll pick "Kiss Me Til It Bleeds" by Nina Gordon. It's on her wonderful Bleeding Heart Graffiti CD. She's beating Liz Phair in the pop department. For Liz, I'd give whitechocolatespaceegg A+, self-titled a B (blended in a bit much,) and Somebody's Miracle an A. Nina gets 2 A+s. I like her solo stuff even more than her old band, Veruca Salt. Veruca Salt's Resolver (done without Nina) was pretty bad, unfortunately.
