Can I get a hug?

My 81 year old father ended up in emergency (he had insomnia last night and went downstairs to watch tv; he must have tripped, as he woke up a couple of hours later on the floor) Blood everywhere - on the walls, and the carpet; he had a large gash on his head (now a huge goose egg) and most likely felt it, then, disoriented, held onto the walls for support.

The verdict? 3 cracked ribs, and some slight bruising on the brain. The neurosurgeon thought that the bruising isn't that much of a concern, and he would recuperate better at home. He does have to be monitored by his doctor for the next week or so.

We have a tense relationship at best, but I certainly don't want to see anyone in pain or suffering.

I also had to say goodbye to an amazing mentor and friend...she is moving out of province, and as she is in her 70's...though so full of life, love and energy...I may never see her again. She has been such a blessing, and an inspiration. It's hard to let go. :cry:

my daddy passed away a couple of years ago at 95 .We finally had to put him in a nursing home because of his falling so much

I will never forget the time I knocked on his door and could hear him weakly calling for "help" he had fallen , and the door was locked. I do not know to this day how long he had laid there on the floor

My doctor thinks he may have had a slight stroke, and that's why he fell in the first place.

He seems to be doing okay, and against doctors orders, drove to Tim Horton's today for his coffee. I guess he was just getting bored being inside for a few days. He was fairly active before this.
